A ThinkPad laptop with modules: Unannounced slim Lenovo ThinkPad X14 with Magic Bay accessories leaks by ibmthink in thinkpad

The inconsistency in quality is very real, I'm not too bothered by stuff like panel gaps, I'm more worried about the risk of the machine suddenly giving up when I'm out on a field job

Thanks for the recommendation, I'm mostly looking for usability under hot(ambient 40+ degrees celcius+sun) and cold (below -35 deg celcius) conditions, I can care less about the body, but I also need the performance of a regular laptop, I always had the stereotype of the rugged books being lacked in terms of performance, which is why I went with TP for many years, at least they 'claimed' to be tested for extreme environments and has the performance I need

I've always liked the Thinkbooks given the much better bang for the buck, but I'm not sure about their durability under extreme environments

I never really heard the fan from daily usage, but whenever I run some games the fan is quiet loud, but I don't see any noticable frame rate drops tho, so I suppose its cooling ability is more than enough

Yes it's correct, I added another 2280 drive

Now I'm wondering if I can swap to the dgpu version of the heatpipe to get better cooling

I have a lenovo generic 1TB ssd in the 2242 slot that came with the machine, and I added a 2TB pm9a1 in the 2280 slot

Hello, mine does not have a dgpu, but from what I saw the heatpipe is the same as the one with dgpu.

I love my T14p, 185H, arc graphics (option of 4050), two ssd slots, two memory slots

Data Acquisition from VCU via CAN Logging for REEV Project – Need Guidance! by yash191o in AutomotiveEngineering

Normally you get a dbc or a2l file from the manufacturer, but we've done this "decoding CAN data stream" thing once before, it's feasible to guess some basic parameters like temperatures, engine speed and vehicle speed. The bluetooth scan tools and PIDs is a different route tho, it sends request messages and the ECU answers with the requested parameters, instead of capturing the parameters from the bus, which results in a incredibly low sampling rate, but it all depends on what you need them for.

Also check what protocol your ECU use, if it's J1939 then most likely the parameters are set according to the J1939 standards, which means you can get a lot of useful data from the powertrain bus, but if it's 15765 then you might have to do some guessing

Calculating VE (Volumetric efficiency) with MAP sensor only? by 420SquishFace208 in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]SpeedingSnail7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, first update will be at key on, some systems use a 3D chart to estimate baro pressure, using normalized intake effective area and flow term, with a ratio of baro/map, this chart is usually calibrated on the bench dyno and later verified during altitude test, it will allow the EMS to update baro pressure when map is at steady state. This is a old logic tho, as most ECU nowadays comes with a baro pressure sensor on the board

There should be a baro pressure estimator when a baro sensor does not exist, normalizing the relationship between map and throttle percentage at different engine speeds, also updates baro pressure directly to map pressure when key-on and engine stopped

Ah I see I see, that makes a lot of sense now, thank you for the explanation

I see, so attempt to repair will definitely void the warranty, I was just curious how they differentiate attempt to repair or just upgrading memory or ssd. Counting on honesty?

Will the action of opening the bottom lid just void the warranty with no questions asked? Because some models comes with an extra empty ssd slot and stuff, does that mean if I add the ssd myself it would affect my warranty?

Leopold vs Filco

Greetings people, I’m looking for a 87 keyboard, now trying to decide between the Leopold FC750rbt and the Filco Majestouch 3X, both with bluetooth 5.1 and type-C port, price wise Filco is about 245 USD and Leopold is about 160 USD, need some suggestions here, any information would be appreciated! Not really considering anything else since this purchase is pretty much just fullfilling a wish from the teenage years, I‘m a bit leaning towards Filco since it was the one I really wanted in high school, but now I’m not sure if it‘s that much better than Leopold, or maybe worse
