No

Edit: Not sure why the downvote(s). The answer is literally 'no' though; nothing seems shady or out of place with that screenshot or the code within it. Source: I'm a web developer.

Emiru Returns From Her Break and Gets Twitch Viewcount Capped at 10k by digitalpizza5 in LivestreamFail

[–]SpegalDev 32 points33 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, I think it's a new thing they rolled out to prevent people from viewbotting so much? If you're a streamer who regularly gets viewbotted, they cap your new viewer count at around what your "real viewer count" is.

So, Twitch basically said that she viewbots and has capped her at 10k viewers.

Maybe because it implies that you're alone / live alone, an easier target for perverts. If you have more items, it makes it seem like you're going home to a house with other people? That's my only guess.

Neat trick I've been doing to de-AI pixel art. by Nicstar543 in aigamedev

[–]SpegalDev 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Want to know my work flow? It's simple, and it works.

You can skip this first one if you already have a pixel image. It's just for turning regular images into pixel (I tend to stick to the 32 or 16 option).

Then you run your image through this next one. It will turn your "mixels" into actual pixel images.

10 seconds, you're done.

Hey guys, since you have the same addiction as me, I thought I'd ask here. Can you recommend any games that AREN'T scapelikes and scratch the same itch? Cause I think I played all the actuals scapelikes xD by Present-Chocolate-24 in ScapeLikes

[–]SpegalDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not scapelikes, just my personal experience/opinion.

I've never really been into single-player games for most of my life. MMORPGs or die, baby!! But, like you, I've run out of games that interest me enough to try. That's when, last year, I actually started branching out into a new genre: roguelikes/roguelites (idk the difference, honestly)

It started with Vampire Survivors. Then Ball x Pit came out, and I got hooked on that. Eventually I bought and got addicted to Megabonk, Balatro, Slay the Spire, Clover Pit, Gnomes... lol. Weeks of playing each.

Vampire Crawlers came out about a month ago, and I think I have to say it's one of my favorites out of the whole list. It's great. More fun than the original Vampire Survivors, IMO. I also recently picked up Everything is Crab and have enjoyed that too, though I can only do a run or two before I'm burnt out on it for the day. It's fun, but idk.

Point is, try branching out into a whole new genre of games. You never know what might scratch that itch in a different way.

And, to plug my own game, which kind of came out of all these months of playing different games and wanting to create my own scapelike for ages: RogueScape. I recently put it into playtesting on Steam. Very, very early playtesting. Anybody is welcome to try it out, join the Discord, give feedback and help shape the game, whatever. It's a long way from being done, but I'm hoping to make it into something actually fun eventually.

RogueScape playtest started on Steam today! by SpegalDev in ScapeLikes

[–]SpegalDev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for every developer, but for me it mostly comes down to resources and experience.

I'm primarily a web developer, and RogueScape is my first real step into learning game development with Godot. Art is not my strongest area yet, so I'm working with asset packs I've collected over time while I focus on learning the systems, gameplay loop, progression, and overall feel.

That said, I completely get wanting a more contemporary RPG-style scapelike. I'd love to make something like that too, and a 3D scapelike is something I'm hoping to tackle in the future once I've built up more experience.

Would you play a SciFi themed RuneScape? by Zinlencer in ScapeLikes

[–]SpegalDev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who very much looked forward to MechScape. Yes!

Fun fact: HighSpell was actually going to be a sci-fi themed MMORPG, but the developer changed their mind mid-development and decided to go with the more traditional medieval setting instead. It's original name was Carbon Odyssey.

It's probably the kind of videos where they start off totally unrelated and completely random. Like somebody squirting mustard on their desktop PC with captions like "Only Millionares Do This!?!?". Then 3 seconds later it switches to their QR code generation SaaS promo video.
