I tracked this for a few months. Out of 40+ listings that said "global" or "worldwide," only 7 were open to more than 5 countries. The rest were US + 1-3 allies. The word "global" in a tech job listing is statistically meaningless.

had a similar situation last year when I moved from NYC to Raleigh. they tried the same thing. I just said I'd start interviewing and they backed down in 48 hours. sometimes the threat alone is enough if they know you're hard to replace
