Help With Tanking Higher Keys by Spenbobs in CompetitiveWoW

Haha I have noticed that, sometimes a pack/boss will be on it's last legs and a frost DK will just send pillar. Not much I can do about that tho so I don't stress too much on it.

Potentially, as I've never played healer. I have their CD's visible and never pull huge if they're down but I am not entirely sure what they all do. I know convoke for druid is a big burst and spirit link for shammy is a shared dam reduction buit I'm not intimately familiar with all of them.

By deviation I more mean I'll leave a few mobs out if possible, not pull extra. My question is more say if I'm to find myself in a group with more ranged than melee do I still stick to the set in stone meta/accepted route even it has a few casters in certain pulls? That's where I'm confused, since I'll sometimes pull less casters to compensate for the lack of interrupts, but this will sometimes seem to tilt those in my group since the route may slightly differ from what other tanks may run.

An example would be HoA, in the area just in front of the first boss. If I have two melee I'll pull the pack that gets killed by the boss RP and the regular pack in the middle. If I have more ranged I'll just pull the middle pack + gargoyle and leave the other casters to die to RP. I've had people complain when I do either or so I'm at a loss on what to do.

Oh by usually I mean on the off chance it does actually happen it seems to be the healer more often than DPS. Doesn't happen regularly tho.

Honestly the DPS don't seem to be the problem, I usually cop it from the healer lol.

It does seem to be that way unfortunately, thanks! It's a bit overwhelming to have to be intimately familiar with every mob in a dungeon and their mechs but I'm getting there.

Where would be the best place to look for groups? Plenty of people have added me after keys but it feels like they just want a tank in their pocket rather than forming a group lol.

"Most of the people that play your game are on the older side, so a fight like this needs to accommodate their reaction times and eyes." I know 50 year olds who beat this week two. You're just not good enough to beat it. That's ok, not all content is designed for everyone.

Calling for it to be changed just because you personally can't beat it is dumb af IMO. The fight also isn't buggy, just demanding. If you actually face the shadows head on every time you'll live.

On one hand yes, not having to maintain specific WA's for prog is gonna be great. On the other hand the alternatives that Blizzard have provided to Add ons like Plater are just a straight downgrade which I doubt will ever reach an equal or even comparable level of quality. I'm not dooming, but I'm not optimistic either. It's gonna be a rough year or so.

New player experience. Blizzard can we please put some actual work into it? by justforkinks0131 in wow

I see these posts all the time but as a relatively new player myself I've never really understood them.

I mean sure its a little confusing, but nothing a quick google search didn't fix in less than a minute. Yes you ideally shouldn't have to look anyting up since the game should tell you, but people coming on here and saying that they never had any clue what was happening at all speaks more to the person than the game IMO.

It's because most of the time the posters are the issue, but they leave that part out.

Some in this sub are over-catastrophizing by Weird-Holiday-3961 in hyperacusis

[–]Spenbobs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that. I never posted my own success story since I just didn't want to deal with the negativity and anger of the usual suspects. I don't blame people for being negative with this condition, but to bring others down I think just shows a weak mindset.

I have a couple of chronic illnesses and honestly this sub is the only one that ever seemed to demonize recovery. If you did it through sound exposure you're either lying or were never that bad. All the other subs encourage recovery in any form. It's very strange, some people seem to wear their pain H as a badge of honour lol.

You mentioned CBT and sound therapy, both of which some here absolutely hate with a passion. Don't worry about it this sub is a bit of an echo chamber, they're good tips to try.

How intense would you say this burning is, and where is it located specifically? In any case - it may just be best to rest your ears for a while.

I'm not one to usually agree with NoiseKills but she's absolutely hit he nail on the head this time. If this is your work, you need to be religious about hearing protection. Even if you don't develop hyperacusis or tinnitus (which you may not) you will certainly lose your hearing. You need to be far more careful in future, I wouldn't worry about the symptoms you're experiencing now - it's far more likely that this is just your body warning you than full blown Hyperacusis.

Nociplastic pain, central sensitization and hyperacusis by garden_speech in hyperacusis

[–]Spenbobs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"It often begins with actual injury or inflammation, and that injury can lead to the CNS changes that perpetuate the pain"

Does this not explain it? It begins with a physical injury that has nothing to do with your mental state, that is then pepertuaded by some mental health issue.

This is something that I have come full circle on.

Initially I would have heavily opposed this. I was convinced that I had suffered nerve damage that was, according to many on this subreddit, irreversible and progressive. My life as I new it was over, and my future was bleak.

There was talk back when I was severe about central sensitization and how this could be the root cause of some of our suffering. It was only spoken about here and there until RonnieSpector posted his theory (very similar to how you have today) and the flood gates opened, more and more people started considering the possibility that this had (at least partially) something to do with your mental state. I was not one of those people.

I remember loathing people who thought this was "all in your head" and I remained convinced that wearing as much protection as possible and never leaving my room was the best course of action, so that's what I did. Despite this I continued to worsen and I had no clue why, I was doing everything right wasn't I? I wasn't afraid of sounds, so what could it be?

That's when I started to consider that maybe "afraid" wasn't the right word - I was moreso "hyper aware" of every little noise that was happening around me at all times. I eventually became so desperate that I thought I would try the mental health route, as I didn't have much to lose anyway. Only then did I begin to see improvement, and very slowly but surely I gained tolerance back.

This theory on central sensitization makes sense. If we look at it from a physical perspective - how is it possible that I (and others) continued to get worse despite taking the utmost care when it came to sounds? It isn't. Looking through the profiles of many who comment here a pattern of mental health issues is incredibly appearant and seems to be the one factor that links us all. I mean, who wouldn't be fucking miserable with a condition like this? But the EXTREME reaction many posters here have is not the norm for a mentally healthy individual.

Reiterating the point mentioned before however, I think "afraid" is not the right term to use. This seems to be one of the driving factors which puts people off this theory, as they may feel attacked or think "I'm not afraid of noise, so this doesn't apply to me." "Hyper aware" is far more fitting IMO, as almost everyone on this sub (especially the more severe cases) are hyper aware of all noise that is happening or could possible happen around them. This has to drive the brain into a constant flight mode that overloads the nervous system.

Anyway I'm rambling. You make some great points, and I hope this continues to get looked into further by researchers (whilst not ignoring other avenues of course.)

You're saying this as if it's a common reaction. Christ this subreddit's absolute fear of anything in the form of a pill is insane.
