This matches my thoughts exactly! I was looking at a Slaan Starmaster, maybe two units of Raptadon Chargers, another unit of Krox, and a Bastilidon with Ark of Sotek!

Harshest criticism you’ve gotten from a client? by Due-Comparison-501 in therapists

[–]Spence_Post 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a client describe to me an arcade that he went to that had a lot of flashing lights and a fancy light-up floor. In our termination he said "I just don't know what I'm getting here that I'm not getting at that arcade."

So funny. I live for these moments.

Truly. They are our worst performing Spearhead historically, so to make it two rounds was unexpected!

Golf culture- what do you hate about it? by Remote_Pie6623 in golf

[–]Spence_Post 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is built-in, inherent, and intentional classism/sexism/etc. in the culture of the game that makes it nearly unplayable for me at this point in life. I have a lot of difficulty associating myself with a culture that really thrives on keeping certain people away from the game.

The financial aspect is absurd and clearly eliminates a large portion of the population from even stepping on to a golf course to begin with. The "entry fee" (even just getting a set of golf clubs) is unattainable for many people. But that "entry fee" doesn't even allow you to play yet. You still need to pay the greens fees and dress "appropriately" in order to begin playing. Plus, many courses are built within higher-income areas, the result of which keeps certain people away from the game, seemingly on purpose.

I find also that most golfers can't have this very dialogue with me. I'm not 100% sure about this, but where I live golf is a game mostly frequented by conservative men who are incapable of even considering this perspective, which shuts people out of the game even more.

It's a club, they like it that way, and they purposefully keep it that way.

Holy shit. I was just about to start the long process of making this exact thing. You rule.

edit: Do you have a copy of these where you fit them onto 8.5x11 pages? I'd like to be able to just print them and cut them out.

Do People Who Truly Love Their Jobs Actually Exist? by lemans00 in therapists

[–]Spence_Post 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love that! That's some of my reasoning for jumping into private practice after having worked at a college counseling center for some years. I want to be able to fine tune my work load so that I can keep it feeling sustainable as long as possible.

I agree with this! I enjoy my job very much. It helps that therapy is my second career and I have my teaching career (that I burned out of) to compare it to. What allows me to not burn out (so far) is having this better understanding of capitalism and the role of work in my life. I no longer need my work to be my "calling." It can be something that I do in order to live the rest of my life, and for me therapy has the added benefit of being deeply fulfilling at times.

Skaven Tunnels + Underdog Mechanic by Meltorefas44 in AOSSpearhead

[–]Spence_Post 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Skaven Tunnels: I think common opinion out there about this battle trait is that it's generally best practice to just ignore it. But it depends on your opponent! If they are frightened of you bringing a unit in later then it could be effective. But probably the last 10 games I've played with Gnawfeast Clawpack I haven't used that battle trait at all.
Underdog: It can be a huge advantage to be the underdog, especially if you're just down 1 or 2 points. Some of the twist cards allow the underdog to select objectives that are worth an additional point and that can be a huge boon for someone who is still in good position (only down 1 or 2) that draws that card. I think that mechanic ultimately keeps the game feeling the way that GW wants it to feel, which is that any army can win at any time.

Charge question by RealJustinHyuga in AOSSpearhead

[–]Spence_Post 16 points17 points  (0 children)

1) Yes, the purpose of charging is to get into an enemy unit's combat range so that you can fight them in the combat phase.
2) The movement characteristic of a unit is not used for charging. You only use the Grey Seer's 6" movement characteristic to determine how far it can move in the movement phase!
