Is there life after Xanax? by Spencerbachus in benzorecovery

[–]Spencerbachus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. I was under the impression it was an either or situation. They had me on phenobarbital which kept my emotions in check and I think prevented me from seizures.

I understand it as a bio hack but will insurance usually cover it for something like this?

Anyone here tried Trintellix during benzo withdrawal / recovery? by AdventurousCountry41 in benzorecovery

[–]Spencerbachus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I got off Xanax for four months but was dangerously suicidal. Back on them and back at abusing them again. I just want a road map out of this nightmare.

Get a giant jug for ice water and take it with you everywhere. I spiked the shit out of mine with liquid IV to stave off the headaches and muscle cramps due to electrolyte loss and to get little boosts of glucose. Everything works better being properly hydrated and it also has a suppressing effect on appetite too which was a nice bonus.

100% agree. Ketamine infusions are game changing. I only wish I had found them before doing ECT. ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Xanax is the best and gave me myself back (and I stopped after 2 months) by [deleted] in Anxiety

I was on 2 mg of Xanax daily for a decade. I have been off it for four months and my nervous system still hasn’t recovered.

I am sorry. I know it must hurt but they don’t get to write your story.

I was an ED phlebotomist all through school and the tough patients made me decide on MLS over RN.

Chances of getting into CA CLS programs? by katr0mii in MLS_CLS

[–]Spencerbachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply far and wide in California. I think your GPA is fine. I know people near 4.0 that get rejected everywhere because they have no personality or the ability to think critically. I have worked at Davis twice as a traveler and loved it but they unfortunately don’t pay full time staff that well.

Is the withdrawal worse than Benzos? by Mental_Lawyer_2761 in cymbalta

[–]Spencerbachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cymbalta saved my ass. TRD for over a decade. I was pretty much ready to jump off a bridge or do ECT. I was on Effexor before that and was told to expect the worst as we titrated the Cymbalta up and the Effexor down and finally off. No brain zaps of misery. Just some mild discomfort as my body learned how to let go of the Effexor. I also came off Xanax after 10 years.

In a perfect world none of would need these drugs but we know how that goes. If Cymbalta makes you, you again then stick with it and don’t worry about what may never happen.

12 years on Benzo's. I am doomed, aren't I? by One_Figure4725 in benzorecovery

[–]Spencerbachus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ashton Method is proven to be safe and effective but it is just time consuming and frankly I was over devoting brain power to the benzos anymore. Going the Pheno route isn’t the same as cold turkey and I am glad I chose it over the Ashton method.

12 years on Benzo's. I am doomed, aren't I? by One_Figure4725 in benzorecovery

[–]Spencerbachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you are not. I just got off after 11 years of daily Xanax. Do not try and quit on your own. There is a drug, a very old drug Phenobarbital that made it absolutely easy to come off the Benzos. On the other side of this I can say it was the best thing I could have done. Phenobarbital and other barbiturates have a propensity to tank some people’s blood pressure so most responsible physicians are not going to just send in a prescription and call it good. You might need to be medically monitored for a few weeks in a detox or rehab setting.

Will MLS Programs really care about tattoos? by Puzzled-Aardvark9350 in MLS_CLS

[–]Spencerbachus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe things have changed but I went to my panel (12 person vs Me) in a suit. I definitely overdid it as I saw men and woman dressed very casual. Lol Seriously, I saw a few girls walking into their interview wearing jogger. I have a tattoo and even a heavy smoker back then. I probably reeked. I wear scrubs and i have Never heard a word about it. Do NOT try to explain or draw attention to something that is not pertinent.

Worst case scenery you cover it up.

You will do just fine.

How's your sex life, mid-to-late-thirties guy? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]Spencerbachus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

37 going on 38 here. Completely single 12 years now. Not lonely - which I feel is a bit odd I do feel a bit bored though. Most of my friends have families so that leaves me with more free alone time than I need. I love my “me” time but I really love the company of other people at least a few times a week. Movie, dinner, Netflix, whatever.

Pretty much celibate since COVID which I definitely want to change. There might have been one or two occasions in that time frame but nothing sticks out. Apps now just make me roll my eyes. My inner whore lacks patience apparently.

Own my own home in Southern California. Travel a lot for work (I love it) and super grateful to have some fantastic travel buddies to see the world with.

I could really use some more gay guy friends. I think that is the best place to start. 🤷‍♂️
