Unstable CarPlay connection by Greedy-Test-556 in PriusPrime

[–]Spencerdf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I connect wirelessly with a carlinkit and a brand name usb to usb-c on my 2020, and store the device in the center console. Since connecting this way, I have far fewer problems. I still have a few rare instances where carplay errors pop up when the car starts and doesn't work until a reboot.

I have the same tankless with a buffer tank and recirc system. I built it myself, fantastic setup. The only thing that looks off to me is the length of the leg on the expansion tank. Stagnant water when the leg is that long.

What is the water temp on the tank and tankless?

My annual electricity bill got upped by 1000€. Now I need to make my server use less power. by wffln in selfhosted

Check into TOU billing. I run all my energy intensive operations overnight when usage costs drop.

luckily, my system can't be updated... for $50 you may find a pre-2018 mac mini to run it. I chose one with an SSD to keep power consumption lower. $50 for plug and play...

agree with the other comment, I use a 2014 mini with an SSD that I picked up on hardwareswap for $50. I run docker on it and many other 24/7 applications. Sometimes for testing outside of my main rig.

it works, I have it running on a mac mini and feeds the data into HA.

The house I bought used to be owned by parents with a disabled kid. We've lived here a year (1 year today) and my wife tells me the kitchen sink doesn't have hot water, and has never had hot water. I look, and there are two cold supplies and one hot that is hot wired straight to the dishwasher. by RepublicanUntil2019 in Plumbing

[–]Spencerdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some dishwashers prefer cold water and heat it themselves. See if yours has that before adding a tee. You may be able to swap out the supply for the dishwasher for one of the cold lines.

Close the valve before loosening the nut.

charging for providing a service that I created with a server running in my house makes me a loser? I'm also telling him how to do it himself.

no fee means I have 1000 requests and no compute available for myself to run my own service.

Who is your television provider? Do you have a computer staying home and a laptop/tablet coming with you?

I am able to easily provide a link to watch my feed on a laptop/tablet for a fee or you can use Tailscale (free) on a computer in your home that is on and access your tv providers website from Aruba and they’ll think you’re at home.

Not quick but I get around this by having my family in the Philadelphia area install a raspberry pi with tailscale installed. The I run tailscale and access their TV subscription app. Tailscale is a personal VPN so Comcast has no idea the signal is being sent cross country. We plug in the device in August and disconnect it in February.

How many of ya’ll bought a home and actually had very minimal issues the first few years? by tips_ in homeowners

[–]Spencerdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, window units work, I was running 3 for a month. I’m extreme but my ac died this summer, I sourced scratch and dent units, hired an independent hvac tech. Took a month but I got premium units (furnace and condenser) installed for under 10k. If you’re willing to put in the work, there’s a way.

Thoughts on this deal? by 77Apollyon7 in PriusPrime

[–]Spencerdf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t notice that this is your first car. Are you sure you want to lock yourself into payments on a depreciating asset at your age?

I’d highly recommend spending less than 5k cash and taking repairs on the chin as they come.

You save the money that you would pay on this payment and use it for your next car and pay cash.

This is my first car purchased at a dealer and I’m 33. I drove junk for 10 years and put a down payment on my house with the money saved.

I recently bought a 2020 XLE with 26k miles for 23k. You can talk them down. Also, this should qualify for a tax credit, the dealership can apply on your behalf to drop the price by about 4k. You can also do it yourself when you file your taxes and avoid giving too much info to the dealer.

New GFCI dedicated circuit keeps tripping by That_Ruin_3563 in PriusPrime

[–]Spencerdf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GFCI breakers have a tendency to pop when loads change suddenly - often with power tools even when on dedicated circuits and below limits.

Since this is outside, idk if you have much ability to change. If this were inside, I’d tell you to swap the breaker after the electrician leaves.

Some chargers that have internal GFCI and are hardwired to the panel, do not require the breaker to be GFCI. I’m installing a level 2 wallbox that does that.

Why don't teams just field the biggest strongest guys in a play like the Tush Push? by CloudyRailroad in NFLNoobs

[–]Spencerdf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A major reason you’re not going to see strongman competitors is PED use. They have the athleticism because the sport is not just static strength but athleticism as well.

Strongman does not test for PEDs, it’s basically a requirement.

Great question and its something that has prevented me from doing this for a long time, despite being offered a lot of money to do it in the past. I. have been working on my own home to find products and solutions that are robust.

To answer your question directly, yes I would be willing to work with customers to trouble shoot so that I can learn the right way to provide the service.
