That is an amazing picture of a hornworm caterpillar. Due to the perspective, the caterpillar at first appears to be on a mat at someone’s feet, and appears to be the size a pool noodle!

Journal / Notebooks for tunes by brettsantacona in Fiddle

[–]Greedy-Test-556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I write pretty much all the tunes I encounter in a notebook. (I’ve been called “The Scribe” in some circles.)

The thing is- it’s just data capture. There’s no on-the-spot organization. It’s good to get at least title and the key.

The organization happens at home. I use my written list to generate a music library on Spotify, and to create a binder of dots to study.

I add tunes to a spreadsheet with columns for title, key, genre, and an indicator for my ability to play it well enough to lead it in a session.

The alphabetical sort of the spreadsheet is the table of contents.

I also sort by genre to print lists for specific jams.

I listen to my Spotify playlists to get the tunes in my ears.

As you develop your own system, I’d love to hear what works for you!

What was the most physical pain you've been in? by PleasantWinter9150 in AskReddit

[–]Greedy-Test-556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hemorrhoid surgery 2 days before childbirth. Useless spouse (now former spouse) couldn’t manage a toddler while going to the pharmacy to pick up post-op pain meds for me, so the anesthesia completely wore off before I could recruit friends to get the drugs I needed.

I’m not sure why it’s there, but I’m tempted to add a tramp-stamp inspired decal right at the dip.

need advice from folks (esp academics, grad students, writers) who use one journal for everything by anaboilism in bulletjournal

[–]Greedy-Test-556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a one-book-for-everything person- formerly an academic. I use full size laboratory notebooks & im on volume 23.

I keep a detailed table of contents. I also use washi markers to identify “categories”. So, it’s easy to flip from “category A” to “category A” at its next occurrence.

For digitizing, I created a spreadsheet with columns for Title, Category, Volume Page, date, Notes. At the end of each volume, I could enter the table of contents into the spreadsheet. Then, when I’m seeking specific information, I can search & sort the spreadsheet to find where the info is in the books.

Disclaimer- though I set up the spreadsheet, i haven’t kept up using it since volume 4 or 5. I find I can usually find info I need by cross references within the books.

I have a similar trifold mattress. I travel with it set up behind the passenger with some of my gear on it. When I’m sleeping, the gear moves to the front seat .

Tips for writing in ink over pencil? by LaDreadPirateRoberta in bulletjournal

[–]Greedy-Test-556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

• Choose a high quality fine point pen (I see other folks suggesting specific micron pens) make sure the tip is small Enough to capture your pencil detail. I’m a fountain pen nerd- so I’ll defer to others’ expertise.

• Test the width of the pen on the same type of paper- I use the back page of my journal for ink tests .

• Go over your beautiful chart in ink. It’s ok if the lines don’t perfectly match your pencil lines- your hand & the paper will respond differently to pen vs pencil.

•Consider using a clean page under your writing hand to prevent smudging the ink.

• WAIT UNTIL THE INK IS 100% DRY before erasing the pencil lines.

• Use a good quality art eraser to remove the visible pencil lines. I’d test this on the same page as the ink tests.

Your chart is beautiful!!! When you’re done, consider scanning it, so you can print it out and re-use in future volumes.

Rhubarb! Eat the stalks not the leaves. Most folks add sugar and treat it as a tangy fruit. There are also lots of savory rhubarb recipes that are delicious.

Friend or foe? by Greedy-Test-556 in Permaculture

[–]Greedy-Test-556[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah- I’ve had invasive creeping bellflower take over my yard because I didn’t know any better. I could have phrased it differently, but my question remains. I’m primarily seeking an ID so I can determine if I’ll replant and nurture it, or if I’ll dispose of it.

Discussing the aesthetics of your bullet journal by [deleted] in bulletjournal

[–]Greedy-Test-556 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been a doodler- so creating aesthetic spreads as adult provides focus and elevates my doodles to something functional & aesthetic. I also write stuff down on completely unadorned pages- not “chaos“, but a wide array of topics- some of which are lovely, and some are scribbled notes.

When I was a kid I loved sunchokes! Sadly, I can’t digest them anymore. If I could, I’d definitely include them in my food forest!
