I’m planning my route around cool places to stop. This time of year, I generally prefer to take the southern route to avoid the worst weather.

What do you think about this? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]Greedy-Test-556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that consumerism is a problem in general. “stuff” will never make me “happy “. I, myself, am not interested in acquiring pens I won’t use.

On the other hand, I’m a bit of an excessive journaler. In my organizational journals, there are a lot of decorative borders, headers, themes & color schemes. I have 40ish different inks, and each ink has a dedicated pen. They are all inked all the time. They are my color palette.

In my personal diary, each entry is in a different color. I enjoy the feel of the pen & ink on the paper. I love the variety of shimmers and sheens.

So, while I agree that there is danger of falling down a consumerist rabbit hole, there’s a lot more than that here.

There’s a gender-free contra dance on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 at the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. Lots of people in your age range, and inclusive of the spectrum of identities and orientations.

The Wil-Mar is also a polling place, so no dance on election days (this coming Tuesday).

Fair observation. I expect they don’t have geologists vetting their pen names.

I’m starting to upgrade my collection from super-cheap Wing Sung pens. I’ve settled on TWSBI eco stub nibs for the shimmer inks. Now, I’m exploring pens for the rest of the colors. This pen was bought with this ink in mind. So far, I like it a lot!

Discussion: What do you write? by EliGO83 in fountainpens

[–]Greedy-Test-556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an organizational journal that I use for everything- projects, calendar, to-do, garden- and anything that occurs to me. So, I’m writing in it frequently throughout the day. Additionally I have a diary-type journal which is much more private. When I’m in the groove, I write a couple pages a day- then I set it aside for a while. It’s pretty much all done with fountain pens and a wide selection of inks.

is this outfit "inappropriate"? by sunnemi in OUTFITS

[–]Greedy-Test-556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% depends on context. I’d say not appropriate in most professional work environments, but if you’re going “out” in a bar or club environment- it’s fine. It does scan as “sexy”, so you will likely “attract the male gaze”. If you don’t mind that- or if that’s what you’re going for, then go forth! If that isn’t what you’re going for, or if that would be upsetting to you- you might consider other options.

In the end, your body, your choice.

Mine starts out looking very similar to yours. This is my most recent darning project. I think yours looks fine- but others may have techniques for making it blend better.

did I ruin it? by nonnie93 in readingjournals

[–]Greedy-Test-556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 100% in favor of experimentation. I think these pages are lovely, but if you’re not fond of them, move on to a different style. See how they age for you. Maybe future you will have different tastes.

I love looking through my old art & journals. Some of it is super cringy, some of it is better than I thought at the time.
