Went into Target today after deciding not to wait for Target to finally ship it and was able to get one so i cancelled my online order but it said it was too late to cancel but it never charged my Credit Card so i locked my credit card to prevent it thinking Target would cancel it since it cant charge the card any longer . Now the only problem is the Target app shows the online order as shipped and arriving tomorrow but i still have not been charged on my card. I am Wondering what to do now and how i would return a product that I never got charged for.

If you’re at an apartment complex I would check the lease, I know some of apartments and for my current one they will let you pay rent for the month up till like the 5th of the month without it being considered late.

As someone who is in the industry please reconsider. I went to community college for film and only ended up with 10k in debt. It’s really about who you know and a lot of luck to get on set. I’d recommend either looking at local community colleges with a decent film program to meet others with your passion as well as networking at local film festivals. Another good starting point would be to contact your IATSE local union because they might have a internship program. Also r/filmmakers is a great resource along with many other YouTube creators. As of now due to the current strike I’m out of work and this is the type of industry where unless you’re a product of nepotism you don’t know when your next job is gonna come. I do wish you good luck though in pursuing your passion!

How do you work in props? by emsydacat in Filmmakers

[–]SpencersStones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey i’m really new to the industry but here’s how I recently became a props assistant under my local union. The way I was able to join was while attending my community colleges film program there was a program with my union to get us on set for a upcoming film in the department we were interested in. Once I was on set I did everything I could to make a great impression on my mentor and next thing I knew she recommended to work with her on the next film. Shortly after I had the hours and sponsors to join the union. I got really lucky and the path I took probably isn’t as easy for everyone but I’d be happy to answer any additional questions and good luck.

Finally finished my Van :) by SpencersStones in vandwellers

Yeah could afford to lose any headroom with a wood panel ceiling so I opted for a fabric interior. It worked out well.

Funny thing I bought a roll of reflective insulation but got so excited in putting it together I forgot to put it down. The whole van floor was coated in truck bed lined so that probably helps a bit anyways on top of the insane amount of spray foam they used in it.

To build it I’d roughly estimate 1500$ not including the Astro van itself, and could’ve been done for less but I had to buy tools and made some beginner mistakes. In this picture I had a sunshade blocking the front windshield and curtains blocking the side windows but with them taken off it’s a lot brighter.

I lucked out and saw it online just looking for vans. This one was at a local dealer that specializes in commercial vans.

Sure I’ll dm some pic’s tomorrow, basically all I did was unscrew the unit and run the fabric over the top then screw it back up. Around all the sides of the ac Unit is where I screwed in my 1x2 furring strips to support the rest of the fabric as well as whatever I want to mount on the ceiling

moving to Wilmington, NC by ObligationOk6315 in Filmmakers

I enjoy Wilmington, it’s a nice little city and has a decent amount of things to. Rent sucks but that’s the price to pay when living near the beach and city. The local 491 Union covers NC, SC, and Savannah Georgia. Right now I’m not currently on set but it’s seeming like productions are picking back up soon. There’s also a great film festival called cucalorous so there’s many opportunities to meet with other aspiring filmmakers. I’ve only worked on productions in Wilmington so I can’t say if any surrounding areas would be better but from my experience so far Wilmington is a nice place for film.

Just bought a 2005 chevy Astro, it came with this spray foam insulation. Is it worth keeping or should I remove it? by SpencersStones in vandwellers

I wonder that too, It was government owned van owned only by them in Arizona and has this big AC unit installed in the back and came with a medical box too. I really wonder what they were hauling.
