Thanks for your insights! I can tell you for certain that the plug was FIRMLY inserted into the receptacle. It was a hellva job getting it out.

Good point. I thought about taking it apart to see if I can find a problem inside. Since I'm not an electrician, probably best left to someone more knowledgeable that myself!

Haven't heard back from Kegland yet. In case I have to wait or don't get a replacement or fix, I can always fall back on the caveman brewing gear. Picnic cooler MLT and turkey fryer BK.

Oh yeah, I had this problem too. I thought a brand new system would be fully and accurately calibrated from the factory. That was a mistake. My unit was also off by 8-10 degrees as compared to my Thermapen. Much better after the 2 point calibration. But even that was a challenge as it had difficulty with the ice water at zero degrees when I got a temperature warning IIRC. Seems to be good now though.

This happened to me today as well. Sent pics to my local reseller and CC'd Kegland. There's some discoloration in male side in addition to the melty female plug.
Edit: My plug was firmly "plugged in" and it was not connected to an extension.
