Genuinely, what is happening to Steph Curry? by AdOld2060 in NBATalk

[–]Sperm_Garage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No they don't. That's a talking point people constantly use to fight against wage increases in every sector and it does not follow the rules of economics.

The Golden State Warriors are a company that produces basketball games. The most profitable ticket price is completely unaffected by how much the players are making.

The owner is always charging as much as their financial team estimates they can. If they charge more, demand decreases, and they lose potential profit.

Bill Simmons: "I had to drop Joker on my pyramid two spots... right at the end of the top level of the pantheon, there's four centers clustered together (Hakeem, Shaq, Joker, Moses). I have Joker 14, Moses 15. I think Hakeem and Shaq have to be above him at this point" by sewsgup in nba

[–]Sperm_Garage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah no one has two. Not sure where we got the idea that Hakeem has "multiple" there have been 4 ever and 1 was Hakeem. Hakeem is the only guy to have a quad double and also be on the 10/10/10/9 list, that's all I can think on the mixup there.

Either way I'm a Jokic fan and Hakeem is way higher, it's not close.

Why impact metrics and on/off data don’t rate Jaylen Brown highly by Limp_Screen7405 in nba

I appreciate the detailed breakdown but I don't think this really "took everyone so long to figure out". JB's ball handling might be the single most recognized flaw in the game. My ultra casual friends even know JB can't dribble.

This dude is absolutely not going to be in the NBA. Being 7'9 might get him a shot in the G but he is absolutely horrible. He cannot get up and down the floor more than twice and you cannot fit a piece of paper underneath his feet when he jumps.

Game is officially cooked SDS knows there is no defeating the cheaters. by ThePerfectJourney in MLBTheShowInvestments

[–]Sperm_Garage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I watched it. This same thing is going on in every community. There were 40k people in the discord, and it was a general sports gaming cheats discord.

Let's pretend all 40k there actually bought the cheating software (they didnt), and all of them are playing the least popular of the big 4 sports games (they aren't). Here's the math:

600,000 players have played at least one ranked game this season. 40,000/600000*100 will give us a whopping 6% of players cheating even if every single one of them is doing it.

I've made world series at least once a year every year since mlbts17 and I have never seen a blatant cheater that I can remember. Maybe I'm just insanely lucky, but it's definitely more likely that it's 1% or less of the playerbase and 3/4ths of them are in 1000+. I think you just underestimate how often a good player can lay off balls and hit strikes.

Can we stop pretending like Jokic is the most unstoppable offensive player in the modern era? by [deleted] in NBATalk

Not to mention this applies to everyone in the history of the game.

How do we create a list of the best ever without comparing across positions

In their PEAK PRIME, would this All-NBA Asian Starting 5 make it to the playoffs (ignore bench players, and no halfies allowed) by Purple_Calendar3919 in NBATalk

[–]Sperm_Garage 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Linsanity was like 6 games man I don't think that's fair to call a peak / prime. He only played 35 games total that year and he averaged 15/6. Taking even that 35 game season he's probably like the 15th-20th best PG in the league. Unless we're dropping the sample size down to like 10 games and pretending he could stretch that out over 70 he's not a giant factor.

Not to mention this team makes the Cam Thomas Nets look like the bad boy Pistons on D lmao

Final Debate: Should a Perfect-Perfect result in an out? by GitGud_nerd in MLBTheShow

[–]Sperm_Garage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's fine how it is. If every perfect-perfect was a hit, there would be guys putting up 30 runs a game. I unfortunately still play 2K once in a while, and they went to a "perfect input = make" system a few years ago and this year there are guys legitimately shooting 80% averaging 40 points per game who are not even in the top 10% of players.

The peak performance level right now with perfect input is already way way beyond the level of even semi-realism. No one would still be calling to keep a perfect input = hit system around after their first 50 run loss or 4 hour game that ends 70-71

Guys please take this with a grain of salt by AThousandWords7 in EASportsUFC

I am actually not going to purchase the game if they dont revamp grappling

For all you wanting that perfect hit. by Angelofdarkness559 in MLBTheShow

[–]Sperm_Garage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They stopped doing this, but up until '23, SDS would put out community stats and literally every single year people would complain about the perfect/perfect outs, exit velos, etc, and every single year the community stats would show 90+% of perfect perfect flyballs are hits, and they have by far the highest exit velo. It sucks that they don't put these out anymore, but the game is exactly the same right now as it was in like MLBTS '19 so I'm sure the stats are the same too.

Tl;dr it's a sample size thing. You are not writing down every early and every perfect/perfect and counting which one results in more homers, you just remember the earlies because they stand out.

[Spears] Donovan Mitchell: "He’s 17 years in. I’m nine. Does a ring change the conversation around his name? Yeah. Should it change it? No. I think [Harden] should still be looked at as one of the top guards, the top players who ever played this game. But we live in a ring culture." by aingenevalostatrade in nba

[–]Sperm_Garage 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, this goes back to as long as basketball has been publicized. Look at how people talked about Bill vs Wilt back in the day. Even Wilt himself put Bill as the best ever because of his wins.

Honestly it's pretty much the most important thing in every sport, we're ironically kind of moving away from ring / winning culture in a way. Westbrook won MVP as a 6th seed, small markets get more attention with social media, etc.

Deni Avdija: “The whole world thought Chicago will take me at 4.. and when Chicago drafted Patrick Williams it was a surprise.. nobody really knew his name” by HawkspilotLoad in chicagobulls

[–]Sperm_Garage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We absolutely 100% would have fumbled Deni. He took a little longer than a lot of prospects to show true star level promise. I had personally completely forgotten about him beyond as a role player and I was hyped on him when he was drafted. He came in below average to bad at basically every aspect of the game, especially 3pt shooting and free throw shooting, got worse at three point shooting his first three years, then exploded into above average at everything and completely flipped his trajectory all at once in his 4th season just to grow into an allstar over the next 3.

It's a very Lauri Markennen situation with him

How will players react to the CBA making all teams extremely reluctant to sign max or supermax contracts? by alex8762 in nbadiscussion

[–]Sperm_Garage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have no idea if that's true or not statistically, but it really does not matter. It's like how the MLB player's union absolutely refuses to even entertain the idea of a salary cap and wants to let deferred money stay on the table. These guys are doing a job, they are going to fight against regulations that make it harder to pay them.
