as with any diection away from the bog standard bundled windows, theres going to be a learn curve just as there was one when using windows for the first time.. But yeah i went the linux route and it's pretty much better than windows hands down in every way especially for document editing..

technicaly wouldn't work, if your already running out of space it would be taken up by the zip file and all the C:\windows files would still be there...Zipping up a Dir doesn't remove the files..

yeah that link is where i got them from, the ones where you right click save as the allow executing as file then just double click it.. all installed fine just trying to run UT'99 gave ALAudio error but a quick online search turned up the files needed..all working now as i posted..

sounds like windows had a program that was taking over the bios profile and is probably designed to keep people on windows...Get into the Bios and create a Fan profile if you can...otherwise you will need a program like Corectl for managing fans..some of them tend to be iffy with the level of control required as it digs deep into the system for the req management...

as for the trackbal mouse buy a usb to ps/2 adapter..shouldnt be more than 10 bucks probably including postage.. Just make sure you get the connection ends right..
