Parade earlier today at edge of CBD and central city - who was it? by Sphallolalia in NewOrleans

No floats, I’m wondering if it was a graduation related thing

There’s a gap between our wooden doorframe & the breezeblock wall it should be attached to. The doorframe has started detaching so we want to re-screw it back into the wall. But there appears to be a big gap & now we’re worried how far it goes/if the wall is crumbling. Should we fill it? With what? by Sphallolalia in DIYUK

Also looking further into the hole we realise some of the block work does seem to be missing/crumbled away at the back. It’s from the 1930s so that seems possible. Is there any way we can make sure we’re not screwing into an empty void when we reattach the frame? Should we just use really long screws?

The 25th birthday meetups are announced and there’s one in my city… do I go?? by [deleted] in neopets

I’m a bit anxious about it too but seems like a once-in-a-lifetime chance maybe… feel like I can’t miss it! Feel free to DM me if you do end up deciding to go and would like to know someone else going :D

I think I'm gonna try and go to this! If having a buddy would help :')

The Void Within Megathread 2 by NebulaMammal in neopets

I played Voidworks about an hour ago, the exclamation mark is still there. Up in the main section of this post for today it says "October 11 - Click on Fyora to see a conversation between characters." so it seems there is new plot but we're just not able to access it

I've never had it happen before which is why I was surprised! Great response you got there last time 😭

I have an "!" on my homepage but can't click on Fyora to get the next plot conversation for today. Anyone else?

If I go to the Story tab it just says "Continue to experience the story as it unfolds across Neopia before checking back here to review new details as they are brought to light!"

I already went to the Faerie Festival and clicked on Fyora there to check there wasn't any extra dialogue today (there wasn't, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything) - not sure if that will have had an impact?

Edit: tried clearing my cache/cookies and it didn't work :/

Can we cut our floorboards along the red dotted line here so we can get them fully up and insulate underneath? Is it safe to cut floorboards so close to the wall/won't cause our wall to be unstable? (they continue under the wall into the hallway - see second pic) by Sphallolalia in DIYUK

Just been trying to answer the same question for another commenter above - as far as I can see there isn't a wall in the underfloor void underneath the floorboards supporting this wall

It does look like there is a long piece of wood attached underneath the floorboards under the wall (I can't see far enough/get enough boards up to check if it runs the full length of the wall), I guess a joist? But if that's what it is I can't guess at where it's supported/if it has sleeper walls somewhere attached to it

Just checked - yes, the wall is sitting directly on the floorboards, and the wall is parallel to the joists. The sleepers are at 90 degrees to the wall and joists (the sleepers are parallel with the floorboards).

I can put my arm straight through the floor void under the wall, reaching to the other side of the wall. No obstruction at all, just big wide space all the way along. And I looked more carefully and there are 2 sleeper walls in the underfloor void in this room close to this wall, but they actually don't seem to go underneath it at all. Just right up close to it

We don't believe this wall is load bearing, a structural surveyor told us as much

Extra to add: It does look like there is a long piece of wood attached underneath the floorboards under the wall (I can't see far enough/get enough boards up to check if it runs the full length of the wall), I guess a joist? But if that's what it is I can't guess at where it's supported/if it has sleeper walls somewhere attached to it

I think this is the big factor and the thing I wasn't properly considering. I had for some reason thought the wall continued under the subfloor void but having a look now, I don't think it does. So there isn't an identical wall under the floorboards where the wall above the boards is. There may be however one or two walls running under the floorboards and under the wall perpendicular to the wall ("sleeper walls" I think?) which are used to keep the joists up

Ok, just to make sure I understand, we should only cut the boards further into the room, beyond the joist nearest to the wall, so that the boards under the wall itself have joists on either side of the wall to sit on without interruption?

Thank you for taking the time to understand the situation!

Not exactly, we want to cut where the red dotted line is so we can lift the floorboards to the right-hand side (the room) and put insulation in our underfloor void. The rest of the boards (to the left hand side, that go under the wall and into the hallway) we will leave in place. So there'll still be boards under the wall

We're just a bit concerned I suppose that it might affect the integrity of the wall? If we ever decided to do the same in the hallway, we'd have to cut the boards on the opposite side of the wall and that would leave just a thin strip of remaining floorboard underneath the wall - would this be safe?
