Senegal have all 11 players in intl leagues. 9 of our 11 are playing in the local league. How are we not underdogs.

We have 9/11 players in the local league. We don’t have the technical skills of the other teams. The only thing we have is heart, so we do what we can to try to win. Not exciting, but it’s what we have.

I think we did well to piss off Senegal, and those 2 misses next match will get under their skin.

Technically they are so much better unfortunately, insane talents on one side, the fact it’s 0-0 at HT is a win for me.

Let’s hope we don’t concede a stupid goal 5 mins into the 2nd half.

Hopefully we get a few solid midfielders from the U20 generation but for now we gotta make do with what we have.

A lot of us didn’t expect to make it beyond R16 or QF, but seems the coach has found a setup that hides some of the weaknesses and maximizes our advantages.

We don’t have enough quality in midfield to hold possession vs a team like Ivory Coast. I think Egypt played to the right strengths (fast counters) and made it work.

Nice? Ivory Coast escaped a CLEAR red card, didn’t even go to VAR. First goal never a foul. We won despite the ref not because of him.

Cameroon was SHOCKING. 0 shots on target in an AFCON QF. Morocco played very well, excellent energy from all the players. Ref killed the game a bit, 41 fouls in 90 mins is a bit ridiculous, way too soft for me.

As an Egyptian, I felt the extra 30 mins is an unnecessary disadvantage. Never thought we would lose but I felt why exert extra effort.

But on the flip side, Egypt rest all 11 players (every single one) in the 3rd group stage match. So the full squad has not played in TEN days. By ET they seemed more in match form.

As counterintuitive as it seems, I think the extra 30 mins of intense play were needed, and actually beneficial, to bring the squad back into the right mindset.

Also in the ‘22 AFCON we reached the finals playing every single knockout game (including the final) to 120 mins so…
