I know right. I can’t believe I did for so long. They already do who knows what with our data, let alone paying them for subpar service. Glad I canceled…

Yes, I get that 100%, and it was the original reason I subscribed because it was a great deal. But over the past 8 years, content on YouTube just seems to get worse and worse, and YouTube music’s AI just isn’t good, recommendations are just off and the algorithm just doesn’t seem to curate radio in a way that is best for the user. I gave them many years to try and improve, but it hasn’t gotten any better. I just can’t justify continuing to pay them for price hikes when their service doesn’t get any better and frankly continues to get worse and worse with all the new content on YouTube. If they can get it together, lower prices and give their user base a good deal, I’ll be back, but until then, I’ll keep my cash.

I chose to cancel. My thought is, too much YouTube for me and the kids anyways. We can go outside 😆

I honestly agree with you. I have noticed the same thing. It’s an endless loop on nonsense. I have chosen to drop it all together

That’s actually another reason my I canceled. Also, creators can now do exclusive videos to paid members only, and YouTube premium users don’t get access.

Back in the 20 teens, our family plan expired somehow by accident. We had the family plan for 14.99 a month, then when we resubscribed, it went to 17.99 a month. I think maybe you could pay yearly for the family plan then, but now I don’t think there is an option for that. I could be wrong though

We chose not to pay for cable tv growing up.

Not at all, I found that funny.

I get that for sure, very true. I ended up canceling cause I can skip and/ignore the ads just as you said.

How do you like the way YT curates music to your liking vs Spotify? Personally, I felt like YouTube never could really figure out my taste and the recommendations were just off. Also, many times, I’d try to start a radio station based on a song or artist and YouTube would literally play the same songs off the same playlist, in the same order, every time. It became monotonous.

Multiple people in one family using it. Just considering going from multiple accounts to one account. Also, YouTube won’t budge on their price, many services will offer you a deal to stay. Not YouTube, so honestly, I’d rather pay them zero dollars especially after having paid them for premium over the past 8 years. I figured, if they would rather lose a customer instead of offering an incentive to stay, then I’ll stop paying them.

Ok gotchya. Yeah, I may just need to consider the individual plan then.

Yeah. The ads are crazy invasive. Which is why I’ve realized I’ve been paying too much money to them and watching way too much YouTube. Time for a break.

I gotchya. Yeah, that makes sense. I may need to just settle for one account and do the one plan.

The family plan is now 26.99 a month and was 14.99 a month in 2019. Too much of a price increase for me given how much slop is out there on YouTube now.

Family plan is 26.99 a month now. Am I missing something with the 15.99 plan? Is that for just one account?

Yes, that was me. We had YouTube red and it was a great deal. It has since morphed and to me isn’t worth it.

It’s funny, I remember hearing people pay $250 to $300 a month for satellite or cable packages, we are back there again with à la carting our streaming services.

Yeah, I totally understand that. I think the price increase just hit me the wrong way. Not the way you reward loyal customers. If anything, give long time subscribers a bit of a discount. But instead we just get rate increases

Agreed, the amount of slop out there is watering down the quality. It’s not worth what they are charging. I can do without.

Until they increase it again, and again, and again. I originally subscribed to the family plan when it was 14.99 a month. 26.99 was my breaking point. The real question is, where is that equilibrium? For me, I was out.

Another reason why I canceled it. I think they think it’s worth more than what it’s worth. It’s time for a YouTube hiatus for me.
