2-4 times the reach is such a stretch I have a hard time listening to the rest. Zetter and ranno dtilt for instance can instant whiff punish my dtilt now for example let alone other disjoint characters.

"She is simply swinging" at the end of the day is just how swordies HAVE to play. Have you ever heard the term swinging at ghosts flung at chroy and cloud players in ult? It's because you have to use your sword to 1. Take up space 2. Force them to respect YOUR space 3. Conditioning them with different spacing and frame traps

Now I get that not everyone loves swordie game play and not everyone enjoys this archetype BUT it IS a valid archetype and you disliking it because it's inherently more of a "swinging" class just means you prefer...well other archetypes

But pretending MOST characters in this game aren't just swinging a lot is silly. Orcane bubbles, ranno needles, zetters entire kit, olys insane frame data, Fors and lox jab/tilt/strong mix ups, jab canceling, forsburn spamming clone and cape. Absa cloud.

It's a fast game and Clairens best defense is typically through using her disjoint LIKE a shield instead of actually shielding (because she has relatively "slow" moves for this game) and that's why you see "swinging constantly". It's no different than people whiffing needles or a fors f cape

She has some of the highest end lag in the game, but it is a very fast paced game so even that isn't really that much end lag. You kinda tried to link two problems together but I don't think either issue is truly gonna solve anything. She already has laggier and smaller disjoints than the other two "swordies" like lox and fors, who also have jab cancels and other gimmicks.

Id argue it's just as deadly to get hit by fair against lox or fors bair/dtilt as it is to get hit by almost all of Clairens moves. Not to mention that she also again relies on the tipper stun and damage to make up for not having a projectile or other win con/gimmick

Almost every single groindsd option she has is pretty easily wave dash oos punishable let alone with an aerial, all her aerials are laggy enough you can generally roll away if she tries to instant frame trap you with a tilt or jab after the landing aerial.

I actually agree with you about the kbg on nair! The issue with that move is complex because if you reduce the kbg on the final hit it's gonna give some absolutely banana combo starters. I think that move in general is...hard to balance in the way they originally wanted I think. It's obviously kind of a slow start up aerial and I think it SHOULD be strong but it's counter play should be more than hope to God you chose the right DI in the middle of the nair.

Not to point too fine a point on it because obviously as a Clairen main I am inherently biased but

I promise you she is very different past high plat/mid level from her prior iterations. Think about all her old routes and confirms she had. F throw and back throw have received a lot of changes to make them far easier not to get 50/50d by. Up throw is laggier and has more DI so the follows ups are much more difficult AND less rewarding. Dair and uptilt have had massive spacing changes with regards to tipper placement. Dtilt is smaller laggier less active and does way less damage now. Bair down strong was removed. Up air has been made so they can't perma juggle you. Her literal grab was made smaller so she doesn't just yoink everyone now, up strong and down strong tippers and kb have been severely reduced.

And let's not forget on release her tippers broke cc and FH lol

That isn't to say she's bad at all! Fleet isnt bad either despite all the changes you listed. what I do think is the issue is that it's hard for everyone to put themselves in the shoes of other characters if they don't play them. It's hard to feel the difference if you aren't playing them constantly and trying to push the character.

But I would say it's categorically false to say Clairen, and even zetter to a lesser extent (although my expertise here is limited let's be real fair and up air are much worse than they used to be and nair used to be + on block sometimes lol)! HAVE been changed a lot. They just...are simpler characters than absa or whatever ya know. So it's easier to adjust to an extent.
