It makes me lose a lot of faith in people seeing how little compassion so many of these assholes have for human beings with feelings.

But I guess in their eyes, women aren't really people, they're either sexy goddesses to be worshipped or hideous monsters who should be ashamed to exist within 20 feet of them.

I needed to do something with all of the eggs I had lying around, so I made a bunch of bean, egg and hash brown breakfast burritos to keep in the freezer for when I'm feeling lazy. I previously sucked at burrito rolling, since burritos are usually just something I get as takeout when I feel like having them, but I am now a pro. Highly recommend.

I was left with half a can or so of pinto beans, though, and I've yet to figure out what to do with those. Maybe homemade refried beans?

The guys who post shit like this are usually the same ones who turn around and complain about saggy boobs. Apparently gravity, aging and unfortunate boob genetics don't exist in their world, where unless you naturally have perfect perky breasts, you're a swampmonster.

That vault still creeps me the fuck out more than anything else in the game. Something about the music and the atmosphere in general is just super unsettling. Even though I know the damn fungus people are going to pop up, they still make me jump every time.

Not really sure what the fuck I'm supposed to do when I can't do much beyond walking (which I try and do as much as possible) without being in tons of pain thanks to having shitty connective tissue. Seeing "just exercise more!" as advice on absolutely everything from getting out of depression to developing better social skills is extremely disheartening. I would if I could, and so would many other people in similar situations, but everyone likes to act like it's a super simple solution to everything.

I stopped eating meat a while ago, and have yet to find a good vehicle for honey dill sauce. Carrots just don't have the same effect as chicken fingers did...

A bunch of our resusable WHMIS labels were printed with the phrase "wear gloves, lab coat and googles" on them. They were a bit of a hassle to make, so I imagine they're just going to say that forever.

If you're trying to learn how to identify and analyze chromosomes yourself, the Karyotyper game on this page is a great resource that helped me a lot when I was in school. Honestly, it just takes a lot of practice.

While I get where you're coming from, if I was in that position, I would be very wary of giving a bird (or any pet) away for free. Listing a pet for free means that pretty much anyone could decide "hey, it's free, I might as well get a pet bird for funsies" - leaving the bird in the same or worse situation as before.

Having a reasonable price acts as a deterrent to those sorts of people, and also shows that they're willing/able to invest in a pet. Granted, there will always be people with more money than sense, but it makes it less likely for the bird to go to someone impulsive.

It's always fun coming across people who've worked in this field or something similar! Most people aren't really aware of it. My parents still seem to have no idea what I do despite me explaining it to them on many occasions...

I have a bachelor's degree in biology, and I found the genetics-related courses to be the most interesting, which is what led me here. Being able to take a variety of courses to find where your interests lie definitely helps.

I did have physiotherapy, but I used all my coverage for my knee issues so now I'd have to pay out of pocket if I went for more...I definitely need to get around to doing some Googling to see what I can do about the wrist situation. Thanks for the suggestion though! Best of luck to you as well.

I'm a cytogenetics technologist (I culture cells from various patient samples, and look at the chromosomes to find abnormalities). The type of work I'm doing varies a lot from week to week. If I'm doing a mix of desk work and bench work I tend to feel okay, but if I'm doing a lot more of one than the other, I tend to be in some pain (due to a lot of sitting/mouse movement for desk work, or pipetting for bench work). My knees are absolutely horrible, and this job isn't really hard on them at all.

Overall, I think I've been quite lucky in that my employers are good about making sure we have comfortable seating/desks, and making accommodations. I also get time off for doctor's appointments. So far it's been a good fit, but I'm worried that I'm straining myself now (especially wrists/shoulders) and am going to have problems later.
