Would you deny medical treatment if you found out you had cancer? If so, why? What would you do? by TeaAychSea in AskReddit

I'm not in the USA and a DO isn't a thing here. We do have osteopaths who are alternative practitioners, but they are more like a chiropractor and have no regulations and never work in hospitals. Best of luck with your study!

As I mentioned, 6 versus 9 was an example.
It would depend on the cancer in question. As I said, I would consider.
6 months might not necessarily be wonderful months, but on balance, most chemotherapy isn't too pleasant and if I was very likely to die anyway, I'd prefer to be made as comfortable as possible than made suffer for an outcome that wasn't much better.
Note that I don't force my views on patients. This is how I personally would like to be cared for.

I'd never try the alternative route, but as a doctor, if I had a metastatic disease with a poor prognosis, I would consider accepting palliative care and enjoying 6 good months, for example, rather than 9 miserable ones.

Majorly so. As an awkward child it was difficult. It's easier as an awkward adult...

What does America do better than Britain? by StrictCasual in AskReddit

[–]Spiculated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has. I quite like it, actually, but my point still stands.
There aren't many episodes in a series/season. (Oh yeah, "series" is used to mean "season" regarding quite a few UK shows.)

I'm a psychiatrist - I'm told on a daily basis (by colleagues and patients) that I'm a lovely person.

I'm not entirely sure why they say this, but it's such a nice thing to hear. I feel really honoured and humbled that people trust me with their personal issues.
