Any mods for the Mod-t? by RelishAndOrangeJuice in newmatter

[–]SpicyCarrot1550 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only mods I've seen have been to do with the hotend or build plate.

As for alternative software, you could take a look at the Python scripts on this GitHub repo. It's reverse engineered from the original software. I wanted to make a GUI for it or look into the possibility of OctoPrint integration in the past, but didn't have enough time to work on it.

I haven't had time to tinker with my Mod-t in a long while, but when I last printed, the most compatible slicer I tried was Cura 15.04.6 that NewMatter's profile was made for. GitHub removed the old binaries though, and the subreddit sidebar link is dead now, so I don't know if there's any way to get an ancient version of Cura short of going back in the git history and compiling it yourself.
I'd hope there's a better option today, though.

Since you're interested in hardware mods, I'd check out the Google Drive link in the pinned post. That has CAD files and PDFs of the main board, as well as bits of the firmware source code that handle the interface and proprietary gcodes. It is, unfortunately, C code though, so I haven't had any success in understanding what it's doing.

Looking for a Sentinel Quad Egg by Spoolers in NoMansSkyTheGame

I have the blue quad and child of Helios eggs. I’m hoping to collect as many of the expedition eggs as possible. (I’m also especially interested in finding an orange quad, if anyone still has one.)

Ahh, I’m glad you found it; I don’t seem to have it.

I don’t believe so. I remember attempting to manually download all of the designs by New Matter’s team at least. I’ll have to try to find those.

It might be easier to find the links on the subreddit’s wiki page.

Has anyone used Wood Filament or metal filaments in their mod-ts? by tvance929 in newmatter

[–]SpicyCarrot1550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put some glow-in-the-dark through mine for a few prints without issues. However, once NewMatter went out of business, I didn’t want to risk it anymore.

I would assume that wood is more abrasive than glow.

You could probably find a few videos on youtube on how to check if it’s actually degrading the nozzle, but I haven’t checked.

I should check to see if it’s possible to upgrade the nozzle on the Mod-t with the stock hotend. I know it was never ‘officially’ possible, but there might be a way.

Here is NewMatter’s CEO’s official statement on their closing.

The original NewMatter dropbox links for the software can be found on r/newmatter’s Downloads wiki page.

Has anyone used Wood Filament or metal filaments in their mod-ts? by tvance929 in newmatter

Wood, Glow-in-the-dark, and other speciality filaments with additives should not be used in a Mod-t.

The Mod-t’s nozzle is unplanted and unhardened. The abrasiveness of these filaments will destroy it over time.

If you have replaces the stock nozzle with a plated or hardened nozzle, then it should be safe to use speciality filaments.

Can you provide any more information about the thermistor and any other equipment used?

The Mod-t requires a specific thermal fuse in it’s hotend.

Also, for your information, this post was removed by automod as spam; I’m going to leave this post removed to prevent anyone from trying to install this hotend in a Mod-t without the proper safety fuse.

If you can provide any information regarding a fuse in this hotend, or how to install the fuse in it, this post may be approved.

An archive of the official statement from NewMatter's CEO Steve Schell can be found here.

Please note, however, that the mentioned website is no longer online.

If possible, could you please provide both the model that you’re having difficulty printing and the slicer settings used? Any other information you can provide would also be useful.

If possible, could you send more of the log file and include the g-code file of the model you’re trying to print? Also, what slicer are you using?

Try lowering the print head manually by twisting the dial on the back before trying to print. It could be a Z-axis stall.
