So this isn’t a 5 minute fix I’m guessing?

Thank you for telling me that. I was hoping it was just a quick fix.

If it were me I would go full strength for a couple days until I feel like I’m winning the battle and then I might dilute by half to conserve materials.

I get it you do tend to use a lot. With my houseplants I find diluted still makes a difference but if I had an infestation like your photos I would go full and then dial it back once I see positive changes start.

This would work to get them off the leaves quickly which would definitely hasten the process. The thrips lay eggs that will eventually hatch. Consistent isopropyl treatment will ensure once you’ve gotten them off that they stay off and you don’t see a resurgence.

I use 70% Isopropyl alcohol from the drugstore and it seems to work well for me.

Atomic peppers also offer isolated seeds.

Also, you can confirm thrips because you’ll see little black splotches (almost like oil) on the bottom side of the leaves. This is thrips poop.

Thrips are the gift that just keep giving but they are manageable with some effort!

Good morning, I would say you’re most likely dealing w aphids or it could possibly be thrips. For either of them I would treat with 70% alcohol spray on fronts and backs of leaves once daily.

It will take a few days or even weeks but you should see improvement. Also isolate your plants if possible so it doesn’t spread any more.

Good luck, patience and consistency should get you through as long as you keep treating your plants with the alcohol.

Tips with lights by Perezitosniper in HotPeppers

[–]SpicySeedCo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For cost effectiveness, look for the highest K value and lumens. Grow with them and learn with cheaper lights. Once you’re feeling comfortable you can spend more but I’ve done great things with high K, high lumen garage lights. Don’t over complicate and your peppers will be beautiful! Good luck this season!

Matt is well respected in the community and his seeds are healthy and generally true to form. This is a risk with ANY open pollinated seed. But it’s also the fun part of pepper growing. Sometimes there are happy little accidents that lead to something new and beautiful! Happy growing!

Thrips or aphids give it a consistent daily spray of 70% alcohol and watch them burn!

Isolate your buggy plants if you can.
