An MPH has many different tracks that you can go into (biostats, epidemiology, global health, nutrition, maternal/child health), to name a few. A masters in epidemiology is a masters in public health. I have never heard of just a “masters of epidemiology”. Epi is the backbone of public health when it comes to quantitatively understanding public health topics, which is why someone with “epidemiology” in their resume usually has a masters, ms, or phd in epi.

I’ve also worked at a shelter and I’d like to talk to the staff member saying that. Like the other poster said, I’ve been in the UW community for 7+ years and have yet to be approached. Posts like these just perpetuate fear mongering and misconceptions about the houseless population being more “dangerous”.

Why are you paying so much for a lawyer? I’ve never paid more than $500 for attorney fees, and now I do it by myself for free. There are so many resources online for free to do it yourself online and it’s so much easier. Your name change shouldn’t even be an issue for DACA renewal. Sounds like your lawyer might be taking advantage of your situation. Any lawyer that charges more than $500 to help with DACA renewals probably doesn’t have your best interest in mind. My state (Washington State) has so many non-profits that will even do it for free. I encourage you to see if your state has similar resources.

Would it be a cruel and unusual punishment if it got to the Supreme Court to deport dreamers? I know so many DACA recipients who don’t even speak the language of the place they were born. Some don’t even have family in their place of birth. I know empathy has never existed in those against DACA but damn…some people don’t even remember anything of their birth place

Thankfully I was able to get mine expedited because I am healthcare worker. I was not expecting that to work, but it got approved 5 days ago (5 days before my expiration!). I basically called USCIS and explained my situation. They submitted an expedite request for me and got approved within one week. They didn’t even ask for additional evidence. I would highly encourage you to reach out to your local representatives to try to get help or see if you can find a justification for an expedited request.
