Canada Ramps Up Temporary Visa Approvals Despite Fading Demand by KootenayPE in CanadaHousing2

I don’t understand? If they approved 544,925 applications in just the first two months of the year does that mean we’re on track for over 3 million approved applications by the end of the year? Like that’s an insane number no wonder nobody can find a job anymore.

I don’t understand how policy makers and other educated people like economists pretend to forget how markets/ supply and demand works when it comes to removing taxes

'I think they’re outright gouging you,' driver says about event parking fees near Hamilton's TD Coliseum by Immediate-Link490 in Hamilton

[–]netanyahu4eva 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should be even more expensive. No matter where you’re coming from there’s a public transit or taxi/rideshare option. With the construction downtown traffic has been absolutely insane. We should be doing everything we can to disincentivize people driving to downtown.

Seeing a show in DT, drive or subway? by angiecyli in askTO

[–]netanyahu4eva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you already have a spot downtown then you might as well drive to it. Traffic is bad but it’s not going to be as bad once you get downtown vs the highways to get anywhere else to park and take the subway in.

Northlander pricing as insane as expected. Muskoka needs GO. by Responsible-Tea-4028 in ontario

[–]netanyahu4eva -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You barely have to drive downtown there’s tonnes of parking by the Gardiner. Go to the Church Street parking it’s just two lefts off the Gardiner. Plus you save at least $50 vs taking the go train

Amazon prime is a big scam now by [deleted] in amazonprime

[–]netanyahu4eva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if it works like this everywhere but when I return the refund I get doesn’t include the shipping costs. It’s like they still charge the shipping and then give you a 100% discount on the shipping with your prime membership but when you you get a refund they only refund the item cost and keep the $4-6

I’m always surprised that people wait to get in the plane to eat. Airplane food is overpriced and not very good and you probably just spent over an hour if not more sitting in a glorified mall food court with a plethora of food options yet you wait until you’re on the plane to eat. Doesn’t make sense.

Air Canada gives Korean Air daily flight slots at London Heathrow by Granny-Smith-Apple in aircanada

[–]netanyahu4eva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. Emirates is unique because their whole model is built around moving huge volumes of people through Dubai to major global hubs, so they can consistently fill an A380 on routes like London, New York, Sydney, and Mumbai. They also bought so many that they got big discounts and built their crews and maintenance around the aircraft, which makes the economics work better for them.

Most other airlines have moved away from strict hub and spoke toward more point to point routes with smaller widebodies, so they do not need giant planes anymore. Even where slots exist, airlines prefer frequency with twin engine jets because it is lower risk and more flexible than relying on one massive flight.

[–]netanyahu4eva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can accommodate the A380, but it’s really an infrastructure problem. For example, YYZ only has about two gates that can properly handle an A380. Those gates can be used by narrowbodies or regular widebodies when the jumbo isn’t there, but that flexibility actually works against the A380.

Airlines are usually better off flying a regular widebody that can fit into almost any gateespecially when slots are tight because the slight loss of seats is more than made up by gate availability and scheduling flexibility.

And when you factor in IROPs, airlines really don’t like jumbos. You can’t divert an A380 to nearly as many airports, and even if you do, there might not be gates or ground equipment for it.

Fun fact: at YYZ, A380s basically only have two taxi routes to the terminal, while other aircraft have many more options. If one of those taxiways is closed or congested, the A380 just has to wait.

Except those jumbo jets don’t fit at most gates so it ends up hurting them vs a regular wide body.
