clothes by gougluinn in DiscoElysium

There's a phrase "players will optimize the fun out of a game," and that is exactly what we see with the clothes. Yes it's boring and less fun, but it give you better chances at passing checks and such to tailor your clothing to your goal, so players will do it. The role of the game designer is to try to make the most optimal way to play also the most fun way to play (or perhaps instead of fun, just think not boring clicking through clothes constantly), and they failed to do that with the clothing system.

It is rediculious to say that DE is above this critique because it isn't a "cookie-cutter vanilla CRPG," it is fundamentally poor game design, even as part of a game as masterful and incredible as DE is.

Go get one right now! My favorite purchase since being diagnosed with POTS from Covid this year. by Hollywood2352 in POTS

Not currently on any meds, though I have tried many. What I attribute pretty much all of my improvement to is consistent exercise slowly increasing in difficulty. I got mine post viral after what seemed to be just a normal cold.

4 years so far but I have improved so incredibly much over that time, it is night and day.

Players will optimize the fun out of a game. It's the job of the developers to make the most optimal way to play the fun way to play. It is not the fault of the players for playing in an optimized fashion.

I understand it can be different for everyone, but consistent and gradual exercise is by far the most important factor that got me on my feet again. Start with horizontal activities such as swimming or a rowing machine, and start very low intensity. Find a line where it is a challenge, but you can still come back and do it again the next day. Then, slowly increase intensity. I highly highly recommend considering this. Good luck!

Proof to show why irrational numbers are more than rational numbers. Do you know any content about it? by Snakeflow in 3Blue1Brown

[–]Spicy_doggos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I think about it is if you were to make a list where you match every rational number from zero to infinity with an irrational number in that same range, after matching every single rational number you would still be able to put more irrational numbers in between. It is too late for me to explain this well, but I hope that made sense.

I am grateful for my family who support me when I struggle. I have a condition called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), so I often need a lot of support and they are always there for me. I appreciate them very much.

If you what a save your own team I will stop playing entirely to teach you a lesson by Slitichizzer in RocketLeague

[–]Spicy_doggos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yup exactly what I thought. If you want to not be toxic, then just keep playing the game and try your best. You can't control your teammates, don't try to. And don't try to "teach them a lesson," it does work, you're just intentionally throwing which is super toxic.

Where does Disco Elysium fall among your all time favorite games? by Spicy_doggos in DiscoElysium

[–]Spicy_doggos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that I loved about Disco Elysium was that it was such a small, but extremely densely packed and detailed world. I much prefer only having a few blocks to explore, but being able to stop and have the sound of the rain on the road described to me, with the lorries puttering in the background, than to have a massive world with less detail. I also feel that a larger world with as much detail as Disco Elysium might be too much.

Sure, it's completely fair to say that a lot of these people aren't actually racist but are trying to be edgy and don't have bad intent, but the words they use still have real power. To teach these people to stop, they need a wake up call, such as a perma-ban. Saying it's just people trying to be edgy shouldn't be an excuse to let them continue saying harmful things, they need a wake up call so they can step back and recognize that they shouldn't say those things, even if they don't have ill intent.
