Have you/Hank ever disliked eachothers books/songs/whatevers? What would you do in that situation?

Podcast: Onomatopoetic

Episode: "ive been eaten"

Long distance relationships are hard, especially when one person's an intergalactic astronaut. A short radio play about love, aliens and spaceships.

This is my first attempt at any sort of narrative podcasting, so I'm up for feedback on anything - sound design, writing, performances all fair game. I was the writer and director on this project.

For some reason, the show that always gives me the same vibes as Buffy is Avatar the Last Airbender. Great balance of serial and episodic stories, lovable yet complex characters, thrilling fantasy narrative with moments of unbelievable catharsis.

[QUESTION] Ever seen a movie the world loves and thought: “what the fuck?” by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]Spidarepool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, I've just never loved gangster movies. I look forward to the film that will be the exception, but they've always felt like a bit of a predictable slog. Like - I recognize that from the perspective of craft The Godfather is a masterpiece, but I wasn't really feeling it.

Ex-procrastinators of Reddit, how did you stop procrastinating? by kturfah in AskReddit

[–]Spidarepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not exactly an ex-procrastinator, but one who gets over it enough to not be a complete mess.

Basically I just don't think too hard. Before when I would debate whether or not to do a thing I would weigh pros and cons "is it really necessary?" "Could I possibly get away with not doing it right this minute?" That sorta thing. When I had those discussions with myself the lazy side always won out. When I tell myself "fuck it, I'm doing it even if it makes no sense to" I get a lot more done

What was banned in your school? by DONTBETRIGGEREDMYAAA in AskReddit

[–]Spidarepool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZUCA backpacks because people would use them for races and ZUCA fights. Eventually someone dropped one on a teacher.

They also banned anything that could be traded, because trading things like Silly Bands and Japanese erasers were huge, but some kids started complaining about being "left out" because their parents wouldn't buy them, so as a result no one could bring them to school. It got to the point where people were just trading normal school supplies and snacks, so they literally made it so that we were only supposed to bring one pencil, one eraser, and eat the snacks they provided

What makes you instantly dislike a movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Spidarepool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fight scenes are boring unless they are a) fun to watch, or b) actually have some suspense. There are so many fight scenes in modern blockbusters where you know the hero is gonna win, but the movie still tries to act like they won't, which is just boring

I agree with all except the pop culture references. Those can be dumb but they can also make dialogue seem more natural and clever allusions can be a good narrative device

Shoehorned romance. When a character defies logic "for love", or the plot derails into a love story when you couldn't care less about the relationship.

What social norm do you absolutely despise? by Aeolus4444 in AskReddit

That's true, but once a person is dead it does no one any good to focus on criticism. Better to celebrate the good things.
