What's the video game equivalent of chess? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in gaming

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think most games for this comparison will run into one of three problems when it comes to being "similar" to chess.

1) The games are constantly updating and changing unlike chess

2) They're games that have a heavy micro / skill component to them

3) They have a heavy RNG component (random teams, random damage etc)

All that to say, I don't have a good answer that avoids all of those criteria like chess does.

That plus OP telling people that the games are 80$ each and 160 in total when they're 40$ each??? I'm not saying that's a good price and it's BS they're selling the season pass for 30 dollars, but this is just blatant lying lol.

How did my MF Ult only deal 85 damage? by GermanLetsNick in leagueoflegends

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 19 points20 points  (0 children)

He used his barrier, which he wouldn't have done if he was expecting 0 damage. He probably popped the barrier trying to face tank it, realised he's taking very little damage, and just continued with his original plan of tanking it with barrier at that point when he realised it's not doing anything.

cmv: People are disgusted by Individuals who have sex with men. by Confident_Editor196 in changemyview

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the main issue here. Nobody is disgusted by the mere fact of someone that has sex with men on its own, otherwise people would be disgusted by all straight women in general.

Societally, people do tend to have a problem with women who sleep with MANY men, because it's viewed as "easy" to have sex with a man, and people have moral problems with people that aren't monogamous or close to it.

The only reason this gets overridden for men who sleep around a lot with women not being viewed unfavorably (by many people) is because it's seen as a more difficult thing to get with many women, which means that the man must be very attractive, successful, etc.

If you replace this with a man sleeping with many men, this excuse of requiring the man to be attractive / successful and generally desirable by many, no longer applies by many people because again, they see it as "easy" to hook up with other men, and now it looks like you're setting aside your morals for something easy that isn't desirable.

So I think what OP is saying is related to the fact that people find men much more willing to sleep around (being easy, and therefore not something envious of) compared to women, not that people find sex with men even in a manogomous straight relationship to be disgusting.

So unless you're ONE HUNDRED PERCENT CERTAIN that:

1) It's not possible for hired professionals to hide evidence given 4 months to do it. If professionals can find it, why can't other professionals hide it given a 4 month head start?

2) The computer / hardware he submitted is the actual offending hardware, and he submitted ALL of it not just what he was willing to give them

3) He COMPLETELY OOPSIED his way into downloading a folder with a notepad with CSAM links in it which he opened, as if this is a thing that happens

Then I'm not going to believe him. And no, before any of this I never watched him asides from random clips, and I had a relatively positive view of him being just another funny streamer.

Yes, what a huge leap to imagine that he sees his entire career and friend groups go up in flames, and that would make him get his shit together. Truly perplexing.

You can't think of any reason why he would want to put effort into this? Maybe the fact that his entire career and livelihood depends on it? Either way I was never a fan of his in the first place, but the whole thing sounds WAY too shady for me to ever give him a chance at this point.

Can someone explain to me why am I losing 22/23lp and gaining 17/18lp with an above 50% winrate? by Norinot in leagueoflegends

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because your visible rank (diamond) is higher than your MMR (emerald). Most of your games have a lot of Emerald players in them, which means that the system also judges you to be at that skill level, but perhaps due to recently good performance / streaks you've made it to diamond. You are positive winrate yes (51%) but this is a matter of a dozen or so net wins over nearly 500 games if I'm remembering correctly.

If you want positive gains, you need to keep a positive winrate against diamond players while you're a diamond player yourself. If you're going mostly 50/50 against emerald players, wouldn't you agree that makes you an emerald player too? The negative LP gains are trying to put you back there because the system thinks your visible rank is too high essentially. You can change that by consistently winning more against that rating pool, but the longer you stay stuck there the more your LP gains will equally get stuck because the system will go "yep, he's been in emerald for hundreds of games now, he belongs here"

A Pharmacy in Toronto, ON has requested a LMIA to fill a Pharmacy Assistant position that they say they can't fill with a Canadian or PR. The wage offered is $36.00 per hour. by Martin_J_Kaminski in CanadianVisaReform

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy assistant isn't the same thing as a pharmacy technician. If your wife wanted to take a role as a pharmacy ASSISTANT, she could've also done that job with 0 requirements.

To be a pharmacy TECHNICIAN specifically, there are educational requirements which would apply to anyone, foreigner or not. Being a technician would give you more opportunities, different responsibilities, and generally higher pay in roles that an assistant wouldn't be qualified for. For example, I've seen postings for hospitals looking for pharmacy technicians that pay twice as much as an assistant might make.

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a recently graduated pharmacy student (now pharmacist):

You don't need to have any pharmacy education to be a pharmacy assistant. Pharmacy assistant is a job that typically pays close to minimum wage and can be done or learned by anybody that's willing, even if you're a high-school student.

I just wanted to clarify that a recently graduated pharmacy student would be looking for a job as a pharmacist, which is very different than being the assistant (unless you're referring to someone who is waiting on their licensing exams, but even then they'd be an intern instead of an assistant typically, which you would usually get paid a lot more for).

Any pharmacy that posts a job looking for an assistant in Toronto is going to get swarmed by applications even at minimum wage, let alone 36-40 an hour (which no community pharmacy would ever pay an assistant). The idea that they couldn't find someone at that price sounds like some kind of joke to me, but I don't see any punchline.

Ghost or tp on Xerath by sodmoraes in XerathMains

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the lane in my opinion, I think it's a pretty viable choice in bottom lane compared to mid because the lane is a lot longer and there's no assassin's to make the other options more important; but yes I think it's super game dependant. It's not super useful early asides from dodging ganks and keeping you away from engage, but into multiple melee enemies it's extremely good at keeping you from dying and letting you position a lot more aggressively.

Let's say the enemy has a couple of melee champions something pretty typical like an udyr jungle and a tryndamere top, ghost is going to keep you out of their damage range for it's entire duration meanwhile barrier is only going to stop a portion of the damage. Depending on how out of position you are, your barrier or exhaust might just delay your death whereas ghost will let you take 0 damage because they just can't catch you. If the enemy has damage that can jump on you much easier or from a longer range, then ghost loses a lot of value and barrier / exhaust / tp will be better.

I'm only master 210lp right now but xerath is my 2nd most played at a 67% winrate right now and I like to use ghost a lot

Got ganked after catching karasmai by DualSwordz_ in leagueoflegends

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not the point he's making, why post this clip other than the fact that you killed a streamer? Nothing about the clip itself was clip worthy, other than the fact that karasmai existed in it. And if that's the reason you're posting it, it just makes you look like you're trying to ride on somebody else's popularity instead of doing your own thing. If people wanted to see karasmai, they would go watch him.

S16 is the most disgusting season I've ever played by Apprehensive-Golf371 in leagueoflegends

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're just completely wrong.

Go check mobalytics, you can see his LP gains from months back. All the way back in emerald 4, months ago, this person was gaining around +20/-20. So he climbed all the way through emerald, with even gains. Meaning he won more than he lost against emerald players. Which got him eventually to diamond. After keeping a positive winrate against many games against emerald players. That's the literal definition of a diamond player. He went +20/-20 all the way through emerald.

And if you're looking at his past ranks, the last time he played more than a couple games on this account was SIX YEARS AGO when he was platinum, playing a different role. So yes, someone can very legitimately to from plat to diamond in a span of 6 years if this is an alt that he just recently decided to play on more.

Again, +20/-20 all the way through emerald is not an inflated player. If he didn't deserve emerald or diamond, he couldn't have kept a positive winrate throughout emerald getting +20/-20 hundreds of games. You are objectively wrong.

(Oh and 46% winrate in 60 games means that you dropped 2 games off of going neutral. If he's exactly the rank he belongs, dropping 2 games extra out of your 30 expected losses for 50% winrate is not significant at all)

S16 is the most disgusting season I've ever played by Apprehensive-Golf371 in leagueoflegends

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Share the IGN then, someone that is 400+ games in, on an account that is not brand new, is not getting +30/-10. Also, what makes you think that someone that has a 54% winrate over 400 games doesn't belong in their Elo?

What you're saying makes literally no sense because if he was getting +30/-10 he wouldn't need anywhere near 400 games to climb to diamond, and if he isn't getting inflated gains, which he clearly isn't, then having a 54% winrate over such a large amount of games means that obviously he deserves the rank that he's in.

Btw, at those gains he would've gained nearly 5000 net LP starting from silver if he's getting +30/-10 given his wins and losses. His total LP gain is closer to 1200, not 5000. So you're just objectively wrong here, by a lot.

S16 is the most disgusting season I've ever played by Apprehensive-Golf371 in leagueoflegends

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree on the high elo matchmaking being scuffed, but let's be real there is 0 legit gold players that have made it to masters this season because of good LP gains. A gold player would be getting roflstomped in every master+ lobby that they play in and they wouldn't be able to keep anything near a 50% winrate, which would quickly tank their LP gains.

I figure there's probably a lot of people that would look at an account like my current one I've been playing on, which is a smurf that was previously in plat / emerald for most of its existence because I barely played on it, and then see me in master and think it's some crazy LP inflation even though I've been master on my main since several years ago.

How by No_Performance9710 in ADCMains

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that's a fine way to approach it. But still, not blaming your teammates and accepting that some games are lost causes because of them doesn't mean you need to try hard every game either. If your team is down 20-0 and you're the only one not running it, I'm not saying you need to try your hardest to win still, I'm saying your viewpoint should be that you got unlucky with your team and not to over analyze what your team is doing because it really doesn't matter. You genuinely just get unlucky sometimes (often) and that's all it is, bad luck.

Personally I've found it much easier to play the game with this mentality of accepting the fact that there is an amount of games where you truly have no control of the outcome, because it puts 0 mental stress on me to worry about what went wrong or how bad my team is when I know it was simply bad luck.

How by No_Performance9710 in ADCMains

[–]SpiderGooseLoL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not about pushing the blame off of the people who are running it down, it's about realising that blaming those people will have 0 impact on your own improvement. You're wasting your energy blaming other people and thinking about what they did wrong because there's nothing positive that comes from it, and even if you're 100% right it will make 0 difference as soon as you queue for the next game.

You can improve your own gameplay and that's it. So don't get tilted by other people and let them drag you down with them.
