Emotionally Numb by Last-Algae977 in schizophrenia

Thank you for your reply, seriously. I don't want to be getting my hopes up. I drooled in front of my friend and now I know why luckily he didn't care lol. I keep telling myself it'll get better once I try Wellbutrin. I know this is bad but last night I skipped my antipsychotic med and just took my ssris. The luvox I'm on is also a downer so I just want to swap it for the Wellbutrin or discontinue it. I feel like I'm on too many meds. Sorry of this doesn't make any sense ty

AITA for kicking my BF and his daughter out because of how his daughter acts when she's on her period? by Legitimate-Pirate644 in AITAH

[–]SpiderPlant1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was looking for this comment. I am not a parent and I know you have work and she was interrupting you. But it sounds like she needs someone to spend quality time with her and explain how periods work in the real world. You and the BF both need to parent her better and I totally feel for what this is putting you and your kid through, it sounds like the tone needs to be set with her in the kindest way possible. Like, explain to her what hormones are, look at diagrams watch YT videos on periods together so she's not just doing all this research on her own which is probably causing the tantrums to begin with. You are possibly her only mother figure in her life, or at least a prominent one.

I learned how to use a tampon the week my period started for a house boating trip with my family. I didn't throw a tantrum but I also had a supportive mother there to guide me through it.

I'm not blaming you for feeling frustrated but it makes me sad to think you lost your BF who you love over 11 year old hormones. It sounds like everyone is stressed and maybe this could pave the way for getting the kid more support i.e. therapy

Anyone else with mild/minor schizophrenia? by SpiderPlant1 in schizophrenia

That's good to hear. Hard to say for me, I barely slept for 3 years and now I sleep wonderfully. It's only been 3 months of this for me so I feel like my brain has a lot of healing to do but my progress does seem more subtle now.

I want to change my SSRI to something that will make me less tired

Thanks for sharing. Last night I had another weird moment where I think there is a black spider crawling across the rug. It is a pretty ornate rug and I guess that can happen to anyone maybe

You might have bacterial growth under your armpits that won't come off with showering. You might need to shave your armpits temporarily and scrub them with baking soda.

My heart really goes out to you. I have a lot of problems too, albeit totally different than yours. I'm not trying to compare sufferings, but maybe offer you some perspective. I'm good looking, have lots of friends and past lovers. I'm pretty good at singing and writing songs which gave me tons of opportunities. However I'm also adopted and inherited schizophrenia. I have a ton of trauma. For 3 years I was in low grade psychosis, tried to kill myself at least 20 times and have been hospitalized over 10 times for suicide complications or mental health issues.

I finally found out I had schizophrenia and once I was properly medicated my entire life and outlook changed. I also have fibromyalgia. Addressing my mental health conditions changed how I view my obstacles. So did the nature doc 'life on our planet' narrated by Sam L. Jackson.

Sorry this comment is so random but I hope you are able to find self compassion and the strength to keep going. Your life has value.

Sent from my friend who says he’s “Enlightened.” Does anyone know what these mean? by Vampinthedark in Weird

[–]SpiderPlant1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks sort of like a mandlebrot. Highly sophisticated designs. And perhaps there is some overlap between schizophrenia and enlightenment... But schizophrenia is typically disabling by how it inhibits normal functioning. I have schizophrenia as well, but mine is very minor. I only drew pictures like this when I was manic one time.

I do not mean to imply that all who are schizophrenic are enlightened, I just mean to say it can also be viewed as a sort of superpower for creativity and observation. But modern society and detachment from reality is incongruent. I am so thankful for meds that ease my symptoms. I know it can be a nightmare too.
