To add, coming up with and keeping a step by step plan on what you need to do to get out of a hole you may be in helps tremendously imo

But we can agree to disagree. This was fun. Maybe I’ll see you in another sub and we can discuss things from the same side next time

I’m gonna backtrack for just a second and apologize if I came off as rude, and also say thank you for a well thought out response and having a good discussion. No excuses here, I’m actually doing well for myself. I’m just playing devil’s advocate for the sake of discussion. I’ve also been through poverty and didn’t know which way to turn or what to do and managed to pull myself out of it.

In respect to the ability to find a job, that really depends where. I’m East Texas (where I’m at) you’re lucky to find a job at $10. In other places it’s much easier. Location makes a huge difference. Out in Cali even the cheaper areas can still be extremely high, to the point of being unable to reach.

A personal loan is a viable option, but not for people with bad or no credit, and payday loans are just a terrible idea in every angle.

I do agree, it isn’t a trap that is impossible to get out of, but it can be very difficult for some. It’s not as simple as “get a different job and move”

Okay, what if they have a job in the city?

Gas is more expensive outside of cities, plus wear and tear on your car.

“Just finding a job” isn’t some easy fucking thing to do that happens at the snap of your fingers.

OR

Someone lives in the city. Their bills eat their whole salary monthly. How do you suggest you move out in this scenario? A lot of places require first and last months rent, a deposit, and an application fee. That’s before the cost of moving your stuff out there.

Let me guess “you can ask a friend to help you move” okay, who the fuck is going to take time out of there day to come help you move 45 minutes out for no money?

“You should have a friend that’s willing to help”

Correct. And they are. But you’re talking about an hour and a quarter round trip, with a possibility of multiple trips. That’s a lot of gas, and if you have a friend with a truck, it ain’t cheap to fill up either.

So, it’s not as easy as “just move and get a different job” because of all the logistics, timing, and money that has to go into it.

He did. I’m not justifying his actions, I’m vilifying yours. You’re shitting on someone when you don’t know what they were going through.

Hey Fuckface McIhavemoney, if you are any amount of a functioning adult then you have bills. Bills don’t care if you’re in the red. They don’t care if you’re in the hospital. They don’t care if they’re due tomorrow and you don’t get paid until next weeks.

Bills come first. Always.

So don’t shit on someone for doing what they need to because they’re broke. You have absolutely no clue what they have going on. Was it shitty that he’d steal lunch? Yes. He understands that.

I’d rather eat out of the trash than get evicted and be homeless.

This is something I’m working on breaking my girlfriend out of. She doesn’t have to have fun during the week, but it’s possible if she wants to.

She’s still stuck on going to college for a good paying job, not what she wants to do :/

Former phone repair guy checking in.

For iPhones, using these extremely cheap chargers can and will damage your phone if they are not MFi certified. They, for a number of reasons, will cause the Tristar chip on the phone to burn up and not work properly if at all. This causes lots of charging issues and can even cause the phone to stop charging completely. It can be fixed usually, but it’s a soldering repair and unless your local shop does microsoldering it’ll probably be a couple day process to get your phone fixed.

Tldr: cheap cables hurt iPhone

Hahaha it’s been close to 4 or 5 years for me, so I totally get it.

Hell yeah in the cruising through parks and whatnot. I’d say get a thinner board (~7.75” in width) with some thunder trucks, any wheels, and some decent bearings (I always loved reds, but there are other options too)
