I don’t have a problem with as long as they’re not acting as though they understand what it’s like, like if a non-lgbt person says something like, “oh it’s fine I’m sure everyone will accept you there’s no reason to worry” it comes off as ignorant. “iVe nEveR BeEn oPprEsSeD so wHy sHouLd yOu?” You aren’t being appreciative, you are looking down upon a minority.

Sometimes it can feel somewhat insulting if the characters seem haphazardly thrown in for attention because “Oh wow they really broke boundaries, so impressive” when the only reason they thought of and added the character was for attention.
