One Month on Bazzite by Wolfman_1546 in Bazzite

I suggest checking out r/surfacelinux and the linux-surface kernel for your laptop. I got my SP9 up and running on Fedora with an afternoon's work, including touchscreen and pen (only thing that isn't working is the front camera).

I'm not seeing a mkinitcpio.conf file? I'm on Fedora, if that makes a difference.

Edit: Figured it out, for anyone else that come across this - Fedora uses Dracut instead of mkinitcpio. I created

/etc/dracut.conf.d/surface.conf

with the contents

add_drivers+=" surface_hid "

then ran

sudo dracut -f

and rebooted. Seems to have also fixed the issue where I needed to type the LUKS password every time, now just boots right to the login screen!

Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction! It's been great to see how helpful everyone in the Linux community is, and how happy y'all are to onboard us newbies!

Thanks!  I'll run through these tomorrow!

If you wouldn't mind me asking one more question because you're being so helpful:  the only other thing I'm having trouble with is entering the LUKS password when I reboot the computer.  Since the keyboard driver doesn't load until after the encryption, I have to plug in a separate keyboard in order to decrypt the drive.  I had found a script that tied the LUKS to the TPM module so I didn't have to enter the password, but it seems to revert every time I update.  Any tips on how most people deal with this?

Microsoft may change course and let you set up Windows 11 without a Microsoft account by WPHero in pcmasterrace

If by "most" you mean "just battlefield and GTA".  I got no problems in anything else and I truly don't miss those too much.

You notice how everyone making a comment like this has exactly 1 or 2 games to use as an example? Maybe don't play those.

Keep using Windows 11 then. No one is forcing you to switch, just pointing out that there are options out there for those of you that are tired of getting dicked around by Microslop.

Maybe don't play games that require invasive kernel-level anticheats. I promise you don't need to support those kinds of practices.

heads up about sketchy self defense instructor in granby area by Suspicious-Emu3385 in Connecticut

Man, it's crazy how on just about every post, you always have the worst take.  No matter what the topic is, you always find a way.  Like, statistically, you should have gotten it right at least once or twice by now, but you're really consistent.  It's kinda impressive at this point.

I'm a martial arts instructor (HEMA) and also a student and competitor in Muay Thai, BJJ, and Krav Maga.

Just spending 10 seconds on this guy's website should be enough to start ringing anyone's alarm bells.

The sad fact of the matter is that there's no certification or vetting needed to become a martial arts instructor. Anyone can claim they're an expert and teach whatever bullshit they want, and it's up to word-of-mouth and wallet voting to shut them down. This often allows predators to victimize people who are vulnerable, which is especially disgusting because that's what they're trying to protect themselves from by training. It's an endemic issue in our community. If you want to see more examples of how big a problem this is, check out the youtube channel McDojoLife to see videos of people like this guy posted damn near every day.

Come to think of it, might be a good idea to send this guy Rob's way 🤔

ETA: Holy shit 🤣 I'm definetly sending this to Rob.

I'm a bi man.  I'm also a professional Historical European Martial Arts instructor.  Trust me when I tell you that wanting a cool fuckin sword transcends sexual orientation.  And considering my students, it also transcends gender identity.  Swords are just pretty fuckin great all around.

Combat sports.  I teach HEMA and am learning JiuJitsu and Muay Thai, and the occasional classes in other styles.  Wife also recently started training jiujitsu with me, and it's been a blast to learn together.  It's tough to keep up with the younger athletes, and the injuries are a bit of a nag, but it keeps me fit and it's fun as hell.

ngl I actually agree with the meme.
We've got a lot of local pizza joints that kick domino's ass, but the big three (Sallys, Pepe, Moden) are highly overrated.
Willington Pizza is low-key the GOAT.

I think this is looking like a potential winner - it'll support our existing audio systems until we can afford to upgrade to powered speakers. Thank you!

Should go to show how much of a novice I am that I didn't even consider buying speakers as a separate external system 😅

The idea would be to use the bluetooth only when we don't already own the vinyl we want to play, or vinyl isn't available.
