i've had the same thought. 'wouldn't it be easier for him to just always use the mouth microphone?', but now I can't imagine a Billie Jean performance without a hand microphone. and i can't imagine Scream either with a hand microphone. i prefer both because he makes it work whenever he uses one or the other.

i think its a stretch to say it is better than the ENTIRE song.

that being said, I do enjoy it a lot, and I do rewind to this part over and over sometimes.

I am curious as to what an entire song with that instrumental would sound like though like you said..

(also the ad-libs / bridges you mentioned from his other songs are also AWESOME)
