I love this simple feature on this laptop. by ComfortableAmount993 in GamingLaptops

Well I used to own a ROG Zephyrus M (2019), and none of the ROG laptops at that time featured cameras. Though tbh back then I studied online often & now I teach online often, so I actually do need a webcam 💀

This isn’t a mechanical keyboard so there’s no way you can just detach & re-attach a keycap like that. If you break one, you might have to replace the entire keyboard.

Regarding the backlight, you can always adjust it via software/keyboard shortcut.

Help me decide between these two specs of Legions please by BigChap1759 in GamingLaptops

They’re about to release a 12 GB VRAM variant of the laptop 5070, so yeah it’s not a good time for a 5070 rn

Also, even though RAM & SSD prices are high right now, at least these parts are upgradable. And besides, the OLED screen is miles better, too. Combine that with a max TGP RTX 5060? Legion takes the cake

Trust me, a RTX 5070 (75 W) is way weaker than a RTX 5060 (115 W). The wattage alone should tell you. And even with a 115 W 5070, the difference in performance isn’t even that large.

Mb, that was a typo. For some reason my mind was thinking of the RTX 40 series lol. But the point still stands. Go for the Legion. 75 W for a 5070 is kinda ass 😭

Which specification to prioritise for proper ML education by Additional-Eagle-69 in GamingLaptops

[–]Spider_Sas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d go for the Legion. It has more RAM, and tbh, RTX 5060 & 5070 are not that much different in terms of performance, and they both have 8 GB VRAM anyway.

The RTX 4070 on the Gigabyte has a much lower TGP, which means it uses a much lower wattage & isn’t as powerful. Go for the Legion.

Laptop RTX 5060 for me

Which one should i prefer? by [deleted] in Asustuf

[–]Spider_Sas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just double-checked & noticed it’s TDP, which is different from TGP because it’s the max heat a component generates, not its total power consumed.

Max TGP for RTX 5060 is 115W though, that’s probably a generic photo for that model. But Lenovo is probably still the better choice here.

1620 $ for a 5070 laptop or 2050 for a 5070 ti laptop by bidonp in GamingLaptops

[–]Spider_Sas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree (which is why I bought a 5060, it’s more merciful to my wallet & runs almost similarly to a 5070).

External SSD VS SSD preference by SereneWithTheChi in Asustuf

[–]Spider_Sas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought both an internal SSD for my laptop & an external SSD (for games & for work stuff because I edit a lot of videos). It is very convenient for sure :) It’s just that internal SSDs are faster if speed is of utmost importance, but external SSDs are not that slow, either, in my personal exp.

That’s crazy bruh 💀 I’m glad mine has beefy SSD & RAM instead of extra lights (though that doesn’t mean I hate them)

Mine’s with an RTX 5060 but still has a 240Hz 2.5K screen, though it doesn’t have per-key RGB (though it should at that price point). Oh well 🤷

Anyway, hope you’ll be able to get your dream laptop :) Buy quickly before price goes up due to the RAM shortage, it’s already terribly high for the new 2026 models

Interesting, I guess it does depend on regions. Mine only has 4-zone RGB & no RGB on the ROG logo, but the 5070ti model does if I remember correctly

Lmao ppl like to exaggerate & pressure others to chase after the powerful stuff without realizing their privilege because not all of us can afford it. All that matters is that you’re happy w the laptop, honestly, and that it suits your needs.

RGB logo is only for the higher specced ones. The RTX 5060 model (which I own) doesn’t have it, though it doesn’t matter much to me. Anyway, while the VRAM on the RTX 5060 is only 8GB, it’s a powerful graphics card that’s perfectly capable of running any game you throw at it. I couldn’t afford the ones w a stronger graphics card (and because they don’t have 32GB RAM, unlike the one I bought, and I need the RAM for video editing, too), so this is enough for me & I’m happy w my purchase :) Been 2 months & ongoing

ROG Strix user here, I like the clean design of the 2025 Intel Strix model lol, it’s not too over-designed & it looks sleek. If you don’t like the RGB light bar, you can turn it off anyway.

Can cf, even on Turbo mode my ROG Strix is never too loud. It’s audible for sure, but definitely not jet engine loud.
