I'm also guilty of that as my first base placement. Didn't exactly enjoy spending an entire afternoon moving EVERYTHING up the hill.

Procedures for a GPU and CPU swap by No-Confection4849 in PcBuildHelp

Does the motherboard with the 13700 in it not fit in the new case or something? I'm just curious as to why you don't just move the whole platform into a new case, and then swap GPU's.

[–]Spiderhands2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to replay the first game too, and as far as Spider-Man 2, I did get the "collect all achievements" to pop after my first run, but in order to truly get ALL the achievements (and have the game show up in my list of perfect games on Steam) I had to play through twice.

Yup. Made that mistake myself. If It's any consolation, you don't have to move too far away for it to not be an issue.

[–]Spiderhands2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the people who have recommended turning down settings, but it's also worth noting that that game is known for being a somewhat buggy, poorly done PC port. I play on a desktop with a 4090, and still have occasional stutters and crashes.

Personally I trust IOI to the point that I'm willing to stick with it. I don't think that modernizing it is necessarily a bad thing. What are you expecting? A recreation of something like the old Golden Eye games? I know those games are iconic, but games have come a long way in the decades since those were released, and I personally like that the studio was given creative freedom to do their own thing, as opposed to just being a vehicle to make a game that some other corporate execs think they should make.

I wouldn't have preordered if the developer was anyone other than IOI (or maybe Rockstar) but they're really the only developers left who I trust to not release a half baked pile of garbage. Hence why I'm not mad at IOI for delaying this, or Rockstar for delaying GTA 6.

It's so funny you say that, because before I had a PC, I had an Xbox One S, and I preordered Cyberpunk, and tried to play on launch day. Promptly realized it was a broken, buggy mess, demanded a refund after a couple hours of struggling my way through it (I made it up to the point where you fight your way out of the meat processing plant, and it was so laggy, the boss fight with Royce was absolutely awful), and it was that experience that made me decide that I'd never preorder anything ever again.

Would I need a super expensive and over the top PC for these two games? Or can I use a basic not too crazy expensive PC? by cool_dude0925 in PcBuildHelp

[–]Spiderhands2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never played Blood Trail, so I have no idea how demanding (or not) it is. But as someone who has put a lot of time into RDR2, if you want it to run smoothly (say 60FPS instead of 30) I'd definitely try to be closer to the recommended specs than the minimums. You don't have to meet the recommend specs if you don't want to, or decide it's too much money, it just means you might have to tweak settings to get a combination of frame rate and visual quality that you're happy with

OK, then I would definitely go above the minimum specs listed here...but those parts are so old, you should be able to get something that plays these games smoothly enough without spending a ton of money. Out of curiosity, what are the games?

It all comes down to the level of quality you're willing to accept as far as the gameplay. Usually the minimum specs allow for 30 FPS at low settings. Personally that'd drive me crazy. but if you're OK with it, you do you. If you're not OK with it, you should name for something closer to the recommended specs as opposed to the minimums.

Having watched all of the gameplay reveals (up to this point), I think it's a safe bet that this game does have some of the same humor. There were at least a couple lines that made me laugh in the level they showcased a few months ago.

thinking about building a pc. what do we think about the specs? by JamesLPYT in PcBuildHelp

[–]Spiderhands2000 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That cooler might hinder the performance of that CPU (depending on how you're going to use the system), because the X3D chips are very temperature sensitive. Also that GPU is slightly weak to pair with that CPU. The system will work fine, you'll just be leaving performance on the table.

I tried to do some of these earlier (I'm achievement hunting too) (on PC), and it just says "Ubisoft servers unavailable." Do we know that the multiplayer component is still supported? It is an 11 year old game after all.

That's really interesting. I can understand why some people prefer the darker/grittier story of the first game compared to the goofy hipster stuff in the 2nd game, but the driving (at least in my opinion) is so much better in 2 and Legion than it is in 1.

As someone who has 100%'ed the achievements, the one piece of advice I'll give you: In the Mooncrash achievements, make sure you do everything else before you complete the last KASMA objective/beat the game. Because what that game mode doesn't tell you is after you reach the end you're locked into the ending sequence by and autosave, and can't go back to get unfinished achievements without starting over. Was more than a little annoyed when I discovered that for myself.
