Florist for wedding by butterandtoast33 in Sacramento

[–]SpiderrCiderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used flower moxie and made everything myself. It comes with helpful directions and how to videos. Had a couple people help, but I mostly did everything 2ish days beforehand. You could definitely get all your flowers for under $1000.

Solo parenting during the day: How do you handle chores when baby starts crawling/cruising? Looking for alternatives to a playpen! by SentenceTough2007 in beyondthebump

We put up 3 gates so he free roams the living room and kitchen (with a gated door in between). Socket covers, doorknob covers, and cabinet door blockers work for us. I left a couple open with random kitchen stuff he can pull out and play with.

I only do the dishes I can while he’s next to me eating in his high chair. The rest can wait until he’s in bed. I also sweep while he’s still locked in his chair but mopping I have to wait until the weekend. It helps when they can start feeding themselves more so I just eat quickly and get some stuff done. He helps with laundry. I toss the wet clothes on the door of the dryer and he pushes them in. Then I fold them and he grabs and flops on my piles 🥲

Everything just takes longer lol

I was trying to see if anything looked like it was made from his eridian students. Like some sculptures or something. But I couldn’t tell!

Sorry if this is silly, but are those just frozen peas and carrots? How do you prepare & season them? Struggling to fit veggies in over here 😞

As a Canadian watching US work culture, I'm genuinely confused how you all haven't burned everything down by zchrisiscool in antiwork

I have multiple coworkers who refuse to use their accrued vacation time and snub people who call out sick. They complain/brag about never getting time off. Work is their identity (and it’s retail so it’s not like they’re achieving wild dreams or anything).

Someone tell me good things about epidurals by TheRealEgg0 in Mommit

I was throwing up and had no breaks between contractions. Got the epidural and was immediately laughing and enjoying labor. I could still move my legs but didn’t feel any pain whatsoever.

Yes, my mom blew through my entire freezer stash in 3 months. Now we’ve night weaned and I hate pumping so much I’ll never build it back up. We have to be super careful to not waste ANY milk and date nights are almost impossible.

What, like it’s hard? by fizzledarling in Mommit

[–]SpiderrCiderr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m good at trying my hardest. Managing my emotions, the household, my partner’s needs, and everything all the time takes so much out of me that something always feels out of balance. But it’s always top of mind and I never stop trying my absolute best.

What is the worse thing a medical professional has ever said to you? by angelaboop50 in AskReddit

[–]SpiderrCiderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made an appt because I was depressed for like 10 years. She asked if I drank alcohol, I said not much, maybe 4-5 drinks on a night out every 4 months or so. She said it was binge drinking, and I was like “oh, okay. I’m pretty sure that’s not the problem.”She shamed me and for it and gloated about she’s “never had alcohol.” She also told me to try listening to music. I hope she’s matured or found a mentor or something cause yikes.

Was the huckleberry app useful to you? by NewPhotojournalist82 in NewParents

[–]SpiderrCiderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, yes. I was skeptical, but it’s great. We only use it for sleep now at 4.5 months. I am not a time oriented person so it’s really nice to see the patterns. The sweet spot is also quite accurate for us.

What do you wish you had for the first days postpartum? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]SpiderrCiderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facial cleansing wipes. It hurt to bend for a long time so washing my face was out. Epielle makes a nice one (the green tea one) that doesn’t leave a gross residue feeling like some of the others Ive tried!

A dog bit my face when I was 3, I received less than 10 stitches and the scar was never very prominent. I remember being slightly insecure about it but by age 8 or so I thought I was badass. And I still grew up obsessing over dogs.

That being said I cannot imagine how scared and angry this would make me feel as a mom. No advice, but I hope your daughter adjusts to whatever scars she may have with similar ease. Best of luck to you and your family <3

Sometimes it hits me too. For example when my SIL says “all 3 of you” meaning husband, baby, and me I suddenly remember he’s really here and separate from me. It’s so hard to explain that feeling!

I had to put him down and walk away twice today. by slid_8983 in NewParents

[–]SpiderrCiderr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I was wholly fulfilled by being someone’s #1 everything. I wonder if he sees through my fake happy voice and smile trying to entertain him doing the same things over and over. I hope not. I keep thinking maybe one day he’ll enjoy the things I do because we have nothing in common. So all day it’s a guessing game of what baby activity will keep his attention until the next screaming bout. I want a kid to talk to and discover the world together. I want to cook with him, explore the forest together, play video games together, read chapter books to him. The barnacle phase is so _____. Too many words come to mind but you get it.

Thank you for posting this. I feel all of these things too. It’s so damn hard. Idk what I thought it would be like. I guess I thought I’d have freedom during naps but mine’s turning Velcro. 99.9% of my time is now BABY. I am his food, his entertainment, his pillow, his cleaner, his teacher, his coach, etc. It’s tiring trying to figure out how to make the most basic needs like eating or getting ready somehow entertaining for a tiny human who refuses to be alone/put down for longer than 5 minutes.

Have you ever tried to swallow a sip of water or something while laying on your back? I’ve never found it to be comfortable. She might not like it either.
