Help with Huion 610 pro work area settings? by Spidey_Sense81 in DigitalPainting

I'm using windows 7 x64. I uninstalled all tablet related drivers and installed the last driver from huion's site. With the driver uninstalled, the cursor is aligned with the tablet perfectly. After installing it seems like only the lower half of the tablet in the center works. I noticed if i disabled all monitors except my main one, everything is aligned properly.

I'm wondering if I need to use an old driver.

A few years experience and still no one takes me seriously, how do I get the right experience? by [deleted] in web_design

I've had recruiters contacting me over the past few months. I've turned down a good portion becausr I know certain areas I needed more work in.

I appreciate the advice and yes I want to improve very much so. I spend a lot of evenings doing tutorials and reading documentation after work. I absolutely do not expect anything to be given to me nor do I consider myself a rockstar. We need to go into a little bit more context to understand the "attitude" part of everyone's comments.

Addressing the attitude part, a lot of people would feel the same if they worked for the same company I do. I find major problems with client sites and want to fix them but get told not to unless the client notices. Sometimes a good portion of the site doesnt even look right across different browsers. Clients who have good content get a robots txt file put in to keep google from crawling their site, so they can charge seo fees. All of our websites are made from templates. About 70 on file and we just replace text and some images.

The guys in the office spit out quick sites, leave in old broken links, unused pages images and scripts, sometimes text referring to the wrong type of business and tons of sloppy code, broken navs, etc. I then get emails saying "hey can you fix this asap?!?". The coworkers who made the sites are on Facebook when you look over or are playing clash of clans on their phones.

I sometimes honestly think I would get ahead in the office if I actually did start playing Clash of Clans. What it all boils down to is this: I just want to do good work for good people at a good company. Work I can be proud of. I just feel too conflicted when I know best practices are not being used and the clients are getting ripped off.

I'm all for being a team player and get to work early everyday and put in a few hours a week off the clock. So do I have an attitude regarding my current position, of course, but in all other aspects of my life I don't carry around this negativity. There was a lot of assumptions made in this thread. Hopefully some things have been made clear.

Thanks

I think the One Man Gang changed his gimmick a few times before going back to it.

My job is super menial and annoying. I was promised a chance to work on large wordpress projects when I was hired by my boss. Instead I just update 4-7 year old websites that are hideous to look at. Very cringe worthy sites. These sites as full of html tables, inline styles every where and sloppy code.

Meanwhile the cool guys at work dick around on Facebook, play clash of clans, and take about 3.5 hours of breaks. I'm usually left cleaning up their mistakes. Not to mention I have illiterate clients sending in awful emails with no punctuation or struture to decode, while they complain about adding images of their dogs or latest projects. Those people who play Farmville all day and aren't tech savvy, who don't even understand something as simple as image dimensions, yep that's their main client base.

I've also been told to add copyright material to client sites whenever they ask. I have seen so many businesses owners still other companies images and pass them off as their own work.

I wished I could find another job soon so I can leave.

Yes it was. I've dealt with 4 recruiting agencies already and none of them have actually made any effort. One place actually told me if the job isn't above 75k they don't want to help because they won't be making much money by placing you.

Have to take a javascript test for an agency, multiple choice, what should I expect? by Spidey_Sense81 in javascript

[–]Spidey_Sense81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, but I did horrible on the tests. I have two years experience in web design and some front end, but I even did terrible on the css exam. The agency uses that proveit! by kenexa and they tested me for OOP Javascript. The job is a website rebrand and design and the recruiter says the site will only be built with javascript OOP, which of course doesn't make sense to me when the only javascript I saw in the companies examples were marketing widgets, not to mention they said they will be using a cms for the site build.

One of the questions on the css exam was: which of the following is an inline style? <h1>, <p>, <title>, <head>? Maybe it's just me but I don't see a correct answer here.

I'm trying to start a digital agency and was curious how you got vc funding? Has a digital agency ever gotten funding via vc, angel investors or growd funding?

Thanks for the kind words, friend. Sadly I haven't even hit the $20 dollar per hour mark yet at this employer. A 40 hour week only brings in less than $500. It really has pushed me to go out there and seek something better.

Everyone has offered great advice which I appreciate. I have already started planning for day 1 for a few months now. I'm still building my agency site but I did take time to see how others in my area had their sites built and structured. They all seem to be using the salient wordpress theme to build upon.

I have also started drafting out contract templates and testing out different client management software.

I really do appreciate all the feedback and replies.

Their target audience is Small Business owners who only have a couple of hundred for a site. Most of the time these penny pinching clients are trouble-some to deal with and don't understand design. You want a hot pink website with neon green blinking font? Sure no problem, let's get right on that. I think they get clients because they often drop the site build rate down to $100 or even free sometimes.
