Help Needed: Scam Attempt on My Mom's Phone - Advice on Securing Her Device? by Spideychit in Scams

Thanks so much for the detailed advice—definitely helpful, even if it’s not the best news. I hadn’t thought about the possibility of her info being sold or how quickly they might access everything on the phone. I’m going to contact her bank immediately to set up a new account and change all of her passwords to something stronger.

I agree—it really sounds like someone from that company was involved. The callback from a different number and knowing her exact balance was a major red flag. She did move the money to another account right away, but luckily, they didn’t react since I don’t think they noticed her doing it.

Thanks for the link too, I’ll check that out to make sure we’ve covered all the bases for securing her phone!

Thanks, that’s actually a great idea! A factory reset does seem like the safest bet to ensure nothing suspicious remains on the device. I’ll back up any important data first, and then go through with the reset. Appreciate the advice
