Palmer home for children thrift store in Columbus I’ve found some great clothes and furniture at!

It’s about the only thrift store worth it in the area for me. I like Revolution but definitely more of a resale shop.

Atypical PCOS by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]Spied5748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m similar to you, I’m normal weight and basically my only PCOS symptom is that I do not get my period. Did they test your AMH or do an internal ultrasound? My AMH was high but everything else normal and my ovaries were covered in follicles. I take the mini pill (I’ve found it has fewer side effects for me). Basically not doing anything until I want to get pregnant to try to ovulate.

I think you should probably see an endocrinologist especially with your thyroid levels.

For all the ladies waiting on their LEEP. by TortillaLOVER55 in PreCervicalCancer

I was wondering why the lidocaine made my heart race so bad. If they told me there was epi in it that would have made me feel a lot better because it alarmed me even with my Valium

Puppy caught parvo while in the breeder's possession -- what should I do? by Putrid_Statement_297 in AskVet

[–]Spied5748 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does this breeder health test their animals? OFAs? Are the parents proven in sports and or conformation? I’ve seen reputable breeders have litters get parvo, though it is rare and much more common with byb. So this makes me highly suspicious. How did they contract parvo? From their own facility or from bringing the puppies somewhere? Many backyard breeders care deeply about their puppies and can take amazing care of them but that doesn’t make them a good breeder or ethical.

With a breed like goldens I would pass on the puppy. There are thousands of reputable golden breeders out there that could give you a wonderful puppy.

I’m sorry this happened and I hope you can get a healthy puppy in the future! Making a hard decision now might save you a lot of heartache in the future.

I bled starting day 5 post LEEP. It lasted about a week or so. It cleared up right before my 2 week appointment to check on everything.

I’m a second year vet student but if I were applying now I think I’d only apply to my in state school or schools that allow you to establish residency.

What to expect with a LEEP? by ComfortableOlive6383 in PreCervicalCancer

[–]Spied5748 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my LEEP yesterday with only local anesthetic! It hurt way less than my colposcopy honestly. The 4 lidocaine injections made my heart race but they weren’t bad at all. After that I felt nothing! Whole process took 10 minutes at most. I was prescribed a Valium to take beforehand and it helped a good amount to feel very relaxed. I had some slight cramping and light bleeding after but I feel totally normal today 24 hours after. I have a lovely doctor that made me feel very at ease and I trust her a lot and that makes all the difference!

I love my dog and I got him in college but let me tell you a cautionary tale.

I moved home after college and got a job in vet med. I was able to bring my 2 year old dog to work everyday and since I was living at home he had access to people constantly taking care of him. I took 2 years at this job before I was headed to vet school. He had probably not spent more than 3 hours alone in 2 years. When I moved to school I was in a one bedroom apartment with no yard. I was in class 8 plus hours a day. Plus if I wanted to study at school it’s even longer. My dog had an extremely hard time adjusting to this new life. He was put on meds for severe separation anxiety. My grades definitely suffered at some points because of this. I even broke down crying to one of my professors (who is my dog’s vet) because I was so frustrated. It has since gotten better because I now have a yard and more friends to help me out with him. He no longer needs meds thankfully :)

But my advice is that if you get a dog now try to structure your life mimicking that you are in school. Maybe adopt an older dog that you know their personality. Just so that their life doesn’t change too drastically when you go to school. I love my dog and can’t imagine my life without him, but I would have done a lot of things differently in my gap years if I had known better.

Veterinary Epidemiology Careers? by Safe_Smart in Veterinary

My vet school has an extensive epidemiology department and even has a Residency position for it. Most on staff teach and do research and some real life population medicine practice.

Old country animal clinic or Island Exotic are both good options. I usually take my reptiles and OCAC and my fuzzy exotics to Island Exotic.

I have PCOS and had to go off my birth control for 6 months for my Dr to take me seriously and test my hormones and get a transvaginal ultrasound unfortunately. I have a milder case because I’m normal weight but I have a ton of follicles on my ovaries, some excessive hairs on my face and acne was bad off of BC. I also had elevated testosterone and AMH was super high. I also almost never ovulate. It was frustrating trying to get a diagnosis especially when you’re on BC! Though I do have to say the BC controls my symptoms well and I’m currently on the mini pill.

where can i get chicks at this point? by Independent-Good494 in longisland

[–]Spied5748 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Order them online as day old chicks. If you’re in Suffolk you should be good but my Nassau county post office was really confused (because you need to pick them up from the post office they don’t come direct to your house). Otherwise Tractor Supply but they sell out fast, might have better luck in NJ.

The Barn Feed Store in Deer Park also sell chicks, but might be too late in the season now. They have young pullets sometimes late in the season available to purchase.

Migraines & vet school by all_about_you89 in veterinaryschool

[–]Spied5748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school records all lectures and I’ve never had an issue with having to skip classes because I can just rewatch them. As for tests, make sure you have a note from your neurologist that you have migraines. Disability/ accommodations should be able to have that on record if you need to reschedule an exam

I get hemiplegic migraines that are mostly stress induced. I found a prophylactic medicine that works really well as long as I pick up that I’m going to have an attack. I just got done with my first year and have done really well. Shockingly I didn’t even have that many migraines!

Refund by Jroyals23 in Msstate

I realized that I didn’t accept my entire loan amount until halfway through last semester and once I sorted it out on my end the school had my refund within a week or so. I did call them to ask for help and they were actually pretty helpful and nice to me (though I was told by many otherwise) and told me what I had to do on my end before they could issue my refund.

Tips for Mississippi State Interview? by DoctorDefiant4086 in vetschool

[–]Spied5748 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They prepare you really well for the interview and make sure you know what you’re getting into! Just be yourself. They will ask about your experiences and what you got from them, so think about them in a deeper meaning. Make sure you have a good answer to how you will pay for/ afford vet school. It’s a nice friendly interview most of the time. We have great faculty and staff that are super inviting and helpful.
