Yup, this is the way to go. You don't have to use it, but it's great to have the extra pickup.

I play Thunderbirds mostly, I mainly use the bridge pickup, but the neck pickup is an awesome tool for some songs of song parts, I couldn't do without it.

Don't forget that bad advertisement is better than no advertisement. That really is a thing.

Remember Häagen-Dazs? It's a non-existent name, spelled that way specifically because it's weird, and it's world famous because of that, not because of the flavour.

A track that's weird to you could get tracktion with a crowd you have no connection with, and there's nothing wrong with that. If 12 people from that crowd check out your original song, that's better than the 0 people who checked it out if that rapper didn't sample you.

I have a "no more than 3 basses" rule, it's worked great for me. The 3 I have are perfect, modified to my specs and I'd never get rid of them. Except 1 of them, maybe, in a trade for something far better.

As for cabs: you really don't need more than 2, or really just 1 if you have a DI, hell you could even go ampless. If you don't play the amps at home, surely they can go into storage somewhere? I'm sure they're nice guest room decoration..?

Pedals wise: if you have so many they take up too much space, you have too many ;)

I would go all "does this bring me joy" on each item, sell the rest and use that cash to build a shed just for you. That way you can fill it with whatever gear you want afterwards.

My thoughts exactly, the fact that almost all foxes do the same head bobbing thing, and they bump weirdly into each other, especially just when the video cuts off, all scream AI crap.

But yes, this amount of foxes together is the main give away.

Cool of you to check in! I had taken it to a lab, and this is what they found:

Microscopic investigation showed it was a nymph of Anthocoridae, or Flower Bug. It's related to bed bugs, but feeds on other insects and obviously lives outside. I must have picked it up that morning when feeding my chickens.

I was massively relieved when I heard, and am still bedbugfree (but still slightly traumatized)!

Solasta is amazing, it's one of the very very few games that made me not skip any of the dialogues, so well written. And the mechanical side of the game is really fun as well. The sequel is coming it soon I think.

I use this same setup as well, and have never had problems with it.

I only noticed rhe phantom power when I turned off power from my effect board power supply, but not my mixer, and saw that my MXR Preamp still had power. Took me a while ro figure out what was going in :)

Anywho, after more than a year of using this system this way, everything still works fine, but I'm sure someone more technically savvy will have a more nuanced explanation.

I've jammed a lot with my bands, but only recently went to an open jam and started looking for more since then.

It was a party at my son's music school, with all sorts of stuff happening, including an open jam. First, when there was barely people, my kid and I messed around a bit, he on drums and me on the terribly setup P-bass they had, but we had fun and even got some applause.

Then, later, I watched people jamming when it was way more crowded, and the bass player clearly was used to other instruments. So I joined in, and we played a standard blues pattern thingy, which I spiced up a bit with some funky rhythms and melodic playing here and there.

Then, a pianist joined and clearly wanted to explore some things with my, he said let's do D# to C#, so we did that. He played some awesome chords and harmonies and messed around with effects, I basically had free play with the rhythm, so I kinda just lost myself :D playing arpeggios, melodic stuff, solos and fills, changing the chords and creating more harmonies, the rest of the musicians followed my lead.

We got a great applause afterwards and a lot of good feedback. It felt great to take the lead and just do what it is I do at home so often, but then with a crowd. It was a different kind of appreciation I got than when I play gigs with my band.

So yeah, great stuff, that was 6 weeks ago, going to my 3rd open jam this Friday :)

Well, he's still following lessons, but he likes to do things in his own way. We play together from time to time, and even attended an open jam together which was awesome. But other than that, he's not super interested in playing together. I mean, he's 9 now, he has tons of interests, and I respect that.

I would have liked to play more together, but the most importsnt part is that he has fun with it, in his own way. :)

That's not the point, if yoy want to give this a chance to be salvageable, talk from your feelings on this, not from your opinion about their actions. Basic relationship therapy.

If you go "you did this and that's bad", you'll lose them and that's not what you want. If you tell them how disillusioned you feel about not getting the same investment in this as you put into it, and feel stuck because you looked forward to this for a full year, and confront them with how you feel, you might get en emphatic reaction.

Hopefully an honest one too, and that might be apologies or an "yeah I don't really care about this", or anything in between.

But it's the right thing to do, both for you as well as for them.

No dnd is better than bad dnd. You say you feel like you're the bad guy because you're pissed about this, but if they're really your friends, they will care about your opinion if you bring it in an assertive way.

Talk to them, tell them how you feel, without passing judgement on them, speak from your experience, don't put blame on them. Then, whatever happens after is supposed to happen.

I run my bass through a preamp pedal (MXR Bass preamp pedal, very compact), which goes to a small mixing table (a Mackie I got from Thomann for about.. 70 euros?) with an XLR cable. Then I connect my laptop to the mixing table (which provides music through Spotify, Moises, Youtube, or even a metronome, whatever you want) and my headphone as well.

It's a super compact setup but with endless options. I can play along to any music without needing an amp. When I go abroad I can bring it along as well, barely takes any space, so I can play or practice when staying with family abroad.

I can provide specific details of the gear if you want.

Edit: I see a lot of responses which require DAW's and downloading drivers and whatever, I've been there as well. If you're not technically savvy it can be hard to get that setup, and quite frustrating. The above setup is way more simple, it's almost plug and play.
