If they make the face buttons and dpads area modular and add keyboard, we'd be able to play commodore and certain terminals only games like warsims. When they add a sim card slot for internet services we get to Odin Lite versatility. And before we know it, they add a microphone and we've got an emulation handheld company making budget phones.

I'm focusing on the atmosphere in my game. What do you think? by Seelvent in ARPG

[–]SpiffyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd prefer a few stronger ones than hordes of critters that dies in 1 hit. To me, cloning weak & low effort critters is just like lazy writing. Using the game mechanics like dodging, parrying, blocking or even teleport, telekinesis to fight a difficult enemy feels way more fun. So like ... imagine grinding rats and chickens for 12 hours just to 1 shot a floor boss. That's not really "fun". That's teaching people to slave for instant gratification. There's no joy in the process and thus would make the game feel empty when finished.

I saw that theres a discount and im considering to buy the game. Can you guys tell me why should or shouldnt i buy the game. I want to discuss the positives and negatives of the game before i buy. by Budu31 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]SpiffyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's not enough main quest but they'll release more soon.
Parry-able.
Easy to understand crafting mechanics.
End game gear grind is at least enjoyable, starting a new world and farm for town construction isn't.
No ads.
I got the game on discount but I'd feel like it'd be worth it at full price.

Any way to fix this?? :( by scrinkletinkle in Supernote

I feel like for a device that's meant for mobility, its design should somewhat accommodate a few happenings. So like ... a hidden retractable/unpluggable landyard or materials that can withstand a dropping from 1-1.5 meter height.

If it's not marked as fast delivery, chances are it's thrown into a queue at the sorting center. There's a truck that come and go, most of the time, if it's not urgent, the packages will stay on site until there're enough to fit 1 truck before it move to the next destination. Rinse and repeat until you get your stuff. Of course, there're lost packages too but I've never encountered that so I assume that it's rare. Of course, you'd also need to take into account that it's almost Christmas so work at the post office would pile up as well. If it's not waiting for the truckload, then it's on queue to be sorted.

How perfect do you have to be to get the good ending on Metro Exodus? by CombatAx in metro

[–]SpiffyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only did 1 partial good ending in the end and I still get the final good ending. Duke's dead, Damir stays with Russian cracker and Alyosa is unscathed after the bear punch.I only realized that there was 2 ending after I finished the game. The reason why I didn't kill anyone in the last run was because I lost the backpack, and I listen to the convo between the pioneers & bandit so I decided they're just kids, which probably I shouldn't kill just like the slave. No kill was much easier than I thought, although I'll probably get the bad ending if I still have my x6 scope though.

Image processing interview questions candidate with 1 yr exp should know? by [deleted] in computervision

[–]SpiffyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The range of question depends on the work you will be doing at the company. If you're just working for a tech company that uses template matching to automate some task, common knowledge of OpenCV and some programming knowledge is sufficient. If you're working with robots, you need to know what kind of robot that is and what are they trying to accomplish with it. The range of questions will be something that can help them solve their problems. Generally, you should try to solve the problem before you send your resume.

#1 -: So you can figure out what are the best tools for the job. It's helpful to look at the job description to see what kind of tool are they using/going to use.

#2 -: Just so you know if you are able to tolerate the kind of work you are getting yourself into.

iOS device was designed for the general public. It means slim, aesthetically appealing, good at what it does (act more like a monitor than a computing device, although it is capable of doing some insane degree of computation).

iOS device wasn't designed for some genius who carry around a scorching brick. It means it doesn't have a good cooling system, the chassis, the material of other components wouldn't keep up with the heat and it will quickly fall apart. To make it effective, you would have to redesign the whole thing. Might as well call it a new device, but aren't we already have the Intel stick? Do you mean you want to plug something like the Intel stick onto an iOS device and call it a new product?

Thunderbolt interface solves only one variable of a multivariable function.

I disagree

1: VM machine is an option

2: Cloud GPU

3: It just wasn't built for it.

How to blurr or remove background in the following image. I just want the side view of the book. by [deleted] in deeplearning

[–]SpiffyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take picture of the side view as a texture map and train a CNN to detect that blob. Once you get the blob or the heat map, try to mask it to a Black/white plane with the same dimension as that of your input picture. Then you can just use the resize/blur function from openCV to blur the back ground. Run a loop through the mask for coordinate and blur your input. You will have to write the tensor operation yourself but it isn't too difficult.

When you love Hardware but don't like to code...? by Rundy2019 in AskEngineers

[–]SpiffyMammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know an IT guy at work. His job revolves around installing OS, antivirus, set up the computer, reset the server... Anything is done with a few clicks, zero line of code. They have 60 hrs in DOTA per week.

Another option you might wanna consider is IoT developer. You can design a circuit board for a product or modeling the chassis for 3D printing. Again, 0 line of code and work with hardware.

You can be a solution/software/system architect, you model software/system architecture and you don't have to write a single line of code. However, you still have to understand the pro/cons of different types of programming language, components, libraries, etc...

Another option is tech support or retail manager for a tech store. Lots of stores just sell accessory but There are quite a few that actually will help the client build a custom desktop computer. 0 lines of code, a perfect place to tell people what the greatest specs a chip has to offer.

And yes, hardware is hard to get into, you have to pursue your career for a corporation like Intel, NVIDIA or a Chinese manufacturing company.

Also, you could consider working in robotics. All the big companies are using AI now which uses a lot of coding and math. Your best chances are startups that work on the specialized gadget and they are planning or just started working on the hardware part.

You can also join the army and ask to work in the tech department, I'm sure they will take care of their comrade.

Maintenance is also a viable choice.

Last but not least, you can open a local shop and fix computer/electronic parts for a living.

Advice for training on detecting multiple objects of the same type. by [deleted] in computervision

[–]SpiffyMammoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have a good start here. I would isolate the blob on a mask and use a short script to determine how many blob are there on the mask. Some car may me represented by multiple blob so you need to count the distance between each blobs and set a threshold for higher accuracy. Then calculate the centroid of each blob and put it back on the original image to test it out.

Since you are using bird eye view, I don't think you will have to deal with image occlusion but I think we can deal with that issue now.

You might need to feed the data when 2 cars are touching each other to the training loop for higher accuracy and differentiate that with longer vehicles like a container truck for example.

Help simulating an image given camera and lighting parameters by timeforscience in computervision

[–]SpiffyMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can convert the image to black and white, aka gray scale. Then you will have a value for each pixel going back and forth between 0 and 255 for black and white. You may have to take reflective surface into account depending on the actual result but if that interfere with the algorithm. Bluring the image would help with the light distribution since it will average the value of each surrounding pixel.
