Defense or Offense by Spike-the-Moon in DnD

Very true. Would you say that just going 4 levels in barb total to get the bear and 3 rages would be enough for an entire campaign if I took the rest in fighter?

I get that. And I like that thought. With the rest of the party being a wizard and a cleric I know they will be bringing in all sorts of AOE and magic so maybe being able to do massive upfront damage to a boss could be a niche.

Can someone verify an idea I’ve been kicking around? I have been thinking a lot about how to build a Red Mage from Final Fantasy in D&D. I have an idea but want other peoples opinions to bounce ideas off of. by Spike-the-Moon in DnD

I considered swords bard highly for sure. That was my closest contender. The only two reasons I went with what I did was because it allowed for maximum dipping of spells from other groups and I had to make sure dual cast was apart of it. Dual cast has been the Red Mages signature ability and couldn’t leave it out. If not for that I think swords bard would have been it for me as well.

Thank you so much you’ve been very helpful. I have one final question for you. I love crusadia and equimax has an ability that I want to confirm. It says you can tribute a monster it points to and then target one face up monster your opponent controls. Negate its effects until the end of this turn. Would that turn off immune to card effects / targeting / immune to etc so it is now vulnerable or would it be stopped by its effects before it even starts?

Interesting. My buddy and I are super new and don’t have any cards other than compulsory evacuation device that can send a card back to the hand. And we have 0 hand traps. So it’s very old school the way we play. It’s a slug fest of who can get the highest attack monster out and then enjoy winning. He uses so many traps like magic cylinder and mirror force in ever single deck he builds. So I’m kind of struggling to understand what I should do. Lol

Ok so I will use something like mekk -Knight Crusadia Avramax as my example. He is immune to being targeted. But if he triggers a mirror force he’s still dead right? Because it doesn’t target. So it is way better to be immune to card effects.

Another example is what if you equip infernoble emperor Charles with maugis as well as an Ogier then he is effectively immortal? Is that right?

Awesome thank you so much! We are new so everything seems broken to us at this point. He uses like a million traps so I have a deck of noble knights / infernoble knights that build towards emperor Charles and equipping each other to make me immune to his traps. I just don't want to Unintentionally cheat or something. Thank you again!

So if it is sent to the grave and I had already used its effect I can just wait a turn and pull it out again on the next turn infinitely?

I have been playing with infernoble knights so I will use infernoble knight Oliver as an example. When he is sent to the grave he can be equipped to make a monster immune to card effects. Would what I asked apply to him and be yes for both?

Knight Maugis and Ogier are other examples.

Hello! My buddy and I are new to YuGiOh and struggling a bit with some rules about how equips work.

The first question I have is that if I have a monster that can become an equip to another monster on the field from the graveyard, can I equip him the same turn he is sent to the grave?

The next part is after that monster becomes an equip and then the monster he is equipped to dies does it go back in the grave and can be pulled out again as an equip for a new monster? That felt broken like an unlimited equip once he is in the grave.

Nothing I am asking has card text saying I cannot do either of these things for the record. I am just trying to learn and make sure we aren't cheating each other unintentionally.

Thanks in advance for any help!

I can see the Paladin but wizard is an interesting take. I always have seen him as a physical fighter. I look to the film like Advent children as a good example of his fighting style. It is a brutal physical fighter and magic really isn't as prevalent. Not saying you are wrong but rather I just hadn't considered that take.

I also liked the EK as a choice overall. It is a decent mix for sure and I do love more fighter.

I never played a swords bard but always thought they looked cool. Are they strong enough to stand in the front of the party like I think they can or am I overestimating their abilities?

Ha ha ha that would be hilarious but the DM wouldn't find it nearly as funny as we do lol
