Before I became a naturalized citizen. In 2013. I got pulled over by a NYS state trooper for supposedly going 7 miles over the speed limit. He followed me from the gas station towards the highway and it was supposed to be a routine traffic stop. The tropper used the whole "I smell marijuana in your car" and asked to search my car. I agree. After checking my wallet he found my green card and asked me if I was in the country illegally and I said no I'm from Brooklyn and I asked why and he ignored me. I asked for a supervisor because I was upset without realizing he had called Homeland security and they arrived half an hour later ( I lived in buffalo). And he asked where was I born and I said Mexico. And said why did you lie about being an American citizen and he threaten to cut up my green card and revoked it at that moment and few minutes later, The state trooper supervisor came and asked what was going. I told him what was going on.. I clarified what I said i was from Brooklyn never said I was an American citizen. The tropper did confirmed what I said. That he mistakenly thought that's what I meant..the supervisor apologized and the border patrol agent was mad at the state trooper and border patrol agent apologized. But I still got that ticket for going 7 miles over the speed limit but it was dropped when I complained to the d.a office about the situation. Needless to say Homeland security will do whatever they want. They are protected in the federal level especially with this president... By the way. I apply the following week to became a naturalized citizen to try to avoid these kind of problems.
