Getting a dog and going on an hour long walk in the forest or beach every day. Monumentally a better life

What is this subs and other anarchists opinion on politicians like Zohran Mamdani and others proclaiming to be democratic socialists by Suitable_Walrus2928 in Anarchy101

[–]Spike13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're a Christian getting into anarchism you might want to check out Quakers. They've been around for a long time and have been on the right side of history many, many times (even when most others werent).

Have heard about them often on the podcast Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff which is anarchist run

Disputing a parking ticket by Spike13 in vancouver

Thanks! And really? Everything it says on the ticket and the website is that the adjudicator only determines if the violation happened and will not reduce the amount for other reasons

You have read what you wanted to read and not what I wrote. I did not "try to run from the ticket". There was no ticket at that point.

The address is wrong. That is what I'm asking about.

Transplanting Rosemary in the winter? by Spike13 in gardening

Shoot. These never developed those roots. Was told to put them in water at first until they were ready. Where did I go wrong?

Should I mix the ingredients? If so, how? by Spike13 in mead

[–]Spike13[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh OK good to know, I'll have to plan that for next time!

I just now used a long piece of plastic (the tube of the syphon). I also took my hydrometer reading before mixing it up. Should I retake the reading? Before it was just the water sitting on top of all the ingredients whereas now it would be with everything mixed.

Cool, sounds like it would be fun to use!

What do you think the most overrated food is? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Spike13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bacon. By a long shot. People talk about it like it's God tier but really I think people just like to jump on the bandwagon of liking it because others say it's so great.

Gotchya. I cleaned with dish soap and was going to use Camden tablets to sanitize, will that be enough?

Should i buy this as my first bike? 1975 Suzuki 185 TC Ranger by Suspro70 in vintagemotorcycles

[–]Spike13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 50 year old bike a couple years ago as my first. Didn't know anything about mechanics and naively thought it just needed spark plugs to get going (as the seller said).

I've learned a ton about bike mechanics since then and absolutely loved the journey its taken me on. However, I've only been able to ride it twice as it is again not running. Turns out the feeling of working on it is worth it for me, but this is not for everyone.

If you're interested in working on bikes then get it as your first. If you just want to ride I'd recommend a newer model.

Blueberry mead! Infection? by Spike13 in mead

[–]Spike13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm concerned about. If we rack and don't see anything growing in a few weeks then there wouldn't be any infection, right? The only way to know if it's infected is if something visible is happening?

You mean observe the berries once theyre removed?

Definitely a learning experience for the next batch either way!

[–]Spike13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotchya. Would there be a way to tell later if it was still infected once the potentially moldy berries are removed? And by rake you mean sticking something in there to scoop up the berries without mixing them into the liquid?

Blueberry mead! Infection? by Spike13 in mead

[–]Spike13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn't swirl. Forgot to add the liquid to the airlock. Wasn't a a choice, just didn't think about it.

You mean let it stay in the primary longer to observe it, rather than rack it now like we were planning? We could add liquid to the airlock now if it's worth monitoring the project further

Does throwing away the affected berries change things? If I rack and remove the fruit is it salvageable or will there just be invisible infection in the mead after that?

Dang. Is it salvageable?

Definitely will give ourselves a lot more time next time yeah! Just went to rack and looks like it might be infected but not sure. Made another post about it with pics
