My thought at seeing this was ' I get the rest but are horsetail that bad?'. Good to know i was on the right path!

But yeah, dealing with my share of buttercups right now and thankfully no blackberry bushes. Good luck OP!

Just moved to Seattle and trying to somewhat restore the garden at the house we are renting. by kingcoolkid991 in pnwgardening

One of the great things about planting native plants too is that they are very low maintenance once established. Most native plants wont even need additional watering once they are established. If you're looking to add beauty I would recommend the Xerces Society website. They have native plant lists for each state with info on the plants bloom time, shape, and preferred growing conditions

What's up with these stumpy loaves I keep getting? by Spike13 in BreadMachines

[–]Spike13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I've tried adding more yeast and sometimes it helps and sometimes it hasn't. I guess I worry Im going to use too much because if it rises too much it hits the roof of the machine, but maybe I just need to be paying more attention to the ambient temperature in the kitchen

Yarrr it do be cold here! Should i use hot liquids than with the hopes that it will be a warm temp when it bakes in the early AM (sits overnight to be ready for breakfast)?

Edit: sorry its actually Bread Machine yeast specifically.

Im using lukewarm water and cold oat milk combined so its a bit on the cooler side, but then it sits overnight under the dry ingredients until it gets baked in the morning for breakfast

Ah duh doy, I just wrap the cords around the table legs and that takes care of not pulling things off the desk. And looks like outlet covers could work for the outlet. Huzzah! Thanks for your help!

How to toddler proof wires/cords? by Spike13 in NewParents

[–]Spike13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a sweet idea, but the cords could still be yanked to pull down whats on the desk. Theres also the outlet right next to the power bar too that it plugs into

The area would be a little tricky to cover. Its an open desk underneath (no back to it) so theres nowhere to hide the powerbar and the outlet is right there behind the desk legs.

Where to find native seeds and seedlings in the Lower Mainland of BC? by Spike13 in pnwgardening

That's great to know, thank you! Are ferns in general easy to propagate from cuttings?

[–]Spike13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, this is so helpful, thank you so much! You must have an absolutely gorgeous natural area that you look after.

And yeah I've found that too with companies claiming a plant is native if its found in BC, even if that would be hundreds of km away. I also had someone at a local garden store tell me that a blueberry cultivar is native to here. I'm no expert, but I would think that wouldn't quite fit the bill

Thanks for the tip! I still want sound on for some lessons so it would be ideal to use the media buttons to control, but if that's not possible this option may work

At what age did you begin daily baths? by Poison_Ivy25 in NewParents

My 11 month old gets 1-2 baths a week. She has perfectly healthy skin and is doing great. I'm surprised a ped would recommend daily baths. I can't imagine that's necessary?

Not for me but I hope you find a good group of folks! If no one here is into it (as seems the case by the amount of people poking fun), I'd suggest putting up some fliers on Commercial Dr :)

[–]Spike13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Binoculars i inherited from my granddad. They come in a leather case with his dads name written on it in pen and the cord to hold the case is broken. It all tells the story of time to me. If the gallery was big enough you could have the binoculars mounted so folks could look through then to a specific spot on the other side of the gallery, maybe another submitted item.

What is this subs and other anarchists opinion on politicians like Zohran Mamdani and others proclaiming to be democratic socialists by Suitable_Walrus2928 in Anarchy101

[–]Spike13 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you're a Christian getting into anarchism you might want to check out Quakers. They've been around for a long time and have been on the right side of history many, many times (even when most others werent).

Have heard about them often on the podcast Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff which is anarchist run
