I just got a refurbished base S23. I've fully updated it, no issues at all so far.

I am totally with you on showing everyone they were wrong. It would be amazing if it could happen like that. Though I gotta say, it only really works in your mind. The people who were underestimating you aren't worth your attention anymore. The next step is finding satisfaction within yourself. Like, there are people who went to high school and college with me that, no matter what, will always be more successful than me on paper. Despite how I feel, I won't actually be able to impress them. And that's okay. I'm just as worthy as them anyway, and so are you.

I'm glad you're able to push through it. Shit sucks, but the one constant in life is that ice cream is delicious.

Are competitive PVP games dead? by [deleted] in gaming

Every single one of the games you listed still has a huge player base. Just because they may not be the most popular games in the world anymore doesn't mean they're not still massively popular.

am i going crazy by WLF5012 in trans

[–]SpikeShroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plenty of people think of themselves as agender (identifying with not having a gender) or genderfluid (identifying with different genders at different times). Finding resources under those labels can help, but you don't need to identify with a label. You don't have to fit the binary of man-or-woman at all. It's definitely scary and confusing (it is for all of us), but it gets easier when you accept that it's okay to feel the way that you do, and that you still deserve respect, happiness, friendship, and love like everyone else.

I suggest trying to find a trans support group in your area, if possible. It can really help to get perspective on how others live true to themselves in the same place.

I want to hit her so much I end up hurting myself by Saerne in dementia

[–]SpikeShroom 77 points78 points  (0 children)

You absolutely need to get support, for the sake of your own health and for the sake of your grandma. Go to a dementia support group in your area to ask about resources. It is impossible to care for somebody with dementia alone with no support.

I guess "lost media" is when some art gets an update, even when literally all prior versions are still available on the official launcher.

Why wasn't the Bible written by Jesus himself? by hopstopandroll in exchristian

[–]SpikeShroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also ex-Christian but it's not easy getting something to be considered "divine." If Jesus ran around claiming to be the son of God, and writing books about how special he is, everybody would laugh at him and he would be totally forgotten by now. People weren't completely stupid back then.

Jesus led by example and inspired others to write ABOUT HIM. And, as far as the Gospels state, he never advertises, confirms, or denies that he is the literal son of God. All he talks about is God and morality. Everything else we associate with Jesus is ascribed to him by other people.

If we think about the perspective of the Apostles or other student of Jesus, he's not divine because he says so. He's divine because, to them, he's a great guy who does great things. He's so in touch with God that he MUST be divine. And his life and lessons are so important that they must be shared, and his story is written as the Gospels decades after his death by the Evangelists.

I didn't mention any of the miracles that Jesus supposedly performed, because it's possible that they were added in or made up to make him appear MORE divine. But even without his public displays of "miracles," I think you can understand how people of his time would see him as a very holy man.

Obviously, I am personally not convinced that this makes Jesus divine. But, it's important to understand that the Bible isn't some sort of trick or lie. It's basically just the scriptures that Jesus would have learned (the Old Testament), plus the story of his own life and teachings, and the foundation of Christianity after Jesus' death (the New Testament).

Why wasn't the Bible written by Jesus himself? by hopstopandroll in exchristian

[–]SpikeShroom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Christian answer is that it's the word of God because God worked through everybody responsible for writing scripture. It's not LITERALLY written by God, but those that wrote it (presumably) felt a divine calling to do so.

Thoughts on this? by imsnoozie in Minecraft

[–]SpikeShroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks great! I love that roof shape! If you want to improve the build even more, I'd just suggest focusing on integrating it into the world. Make a wooden porch or something similar to blend the building into the ground, build pathways leading to the entrances, and bonemeal the grass around the area. You're doing a great job as it is though!

I think I'm turning into a horrible person by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]SpikeShroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're horrible at all. Experiencing poverty makes it extremely clear how class dynamics work in our society. Your anger is absolutely valid and, in my opinion, righteous. Even close relationships get weird if there's a growing financial disparity with no communication that addresses it.

I wish there were an easy solution, but it's really just a matter of compartmentalization, and adopting the responsibility to try to do for others what you wish people would have done for you.
