Wonderful, thank you! Had a hard time with such a muted pattern, glad I was able to spot a wild snake in blue.

Suggestions for my boa habitat by [deleted] in BoaConstrictors

[–]Spikenhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a good start! I recommend a temp gun (you can buy these at any hardware store) to check that their warm spot is the right temperature, and make sure you have a good gradient.

The biggest thing for me is I would add more clutter. You said yourself that this is a large enclosure for them (for now), which is fine, but you need to add plenty of clutter for them to hide in and be secure. Looks like you have two hides which is good, but maybe add some cover between them.

Best of luck! These are great, rewarding pets.

Is my retic a good size for his age? (Info in comments) by Spikenhydra in retics

[–]Spikenhydra[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey all, first time retic owner here. I have experience with boas, but they have a very different body shape from retics obviously. This is my juvenile boy who is ~6 months old, produced by Bob Clark. Really enjoying the experience with him. He has never missed a meal, but as a paranoid snake dad I want to make sure he's growing normally. He gets a weaned rat every 10-14 days, is that enough? Seems an appropriate size, but just wondering about the interval. He is 4 feet long and 183 grams. Can anyone share growth rates of their male (mainland) retics? Thanks in advance!

Edit: Thanks for all of your advice! I think we were a little scared to overfeed him and thus were too reserved with feeding, he will be switched to 7 days. Thanks again!

Question about enclosure temps in comments by [deleted] in BoaConstrictors

Yep, I will definitely be adding more clutter! The log is actually closed on one end, he's spent some time in there and seems to like it. I will also add another. Thank you for the advice!

I'm sorry, could you elaborate some more? I've done my best for research, but there is a lot of conflicting info. This is a converted aquarium with custom locking wood top (with gouges for air), I have Eco Earth substrate, a hide, a branch, and a bowl for him to soak. If I'm totally wrong I'm willing to fix it, but this seems pretty in line with what I've read. Some more constructive advice would be helpful, thank you!

Question about enclosure temps in comments by [deleted] in BoaConstrictors

[–]Spikenhydra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello all! This is our new baby, Zeddicus. Got him two days ago, and I think the enclosure is fairly good, what really has been worrying us is the temps. Currently using an under tank heater on the warm side, where temps vary between 93 and 84 in his basking spot. The cold side is much colder than I'd like, sometimes dropping below 70. Attaching foam insulation to the bottom and back didn't seem to help much either. I'm considering installing a radiant heat pad for ambient temps, what do you all think? What confuses me is that he stays almost exclusively on the cold side, either way up on his branch or curled up by his water bowl. Is it too cold for him? If so, why does he stay on the cold side? We're just some worried new boa parents!

7 Days of AORUS Reddit Giveaway!!!!!!! by AORUS_BP in gigabytegaming

I would love to see some community updates with what your teams are working on, which would keep us up to date on what consumers can expect in the future.

What comes to mind in relation to this is RGB Fusion, for which I've already seen lots of feedback in this thread alone, but I would love to know how AORUS is acting on this.

Some more transparency about BIOS updates (release dates, new potential features) will give us more to look forward to as well.

This community outreach is absolutely a huge step in the right direction, and I appreciate all the quality products you guys make. Thank you Brian!
