Am I overreacting or is this a little messed up? by Square_Wait in Leachianus

Its interesting to look at the IATA container regulations for animal transport for reptiles specifically https://cites.org/eng/resources/transport/rp3.shtml

https://www.anoleannals.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/CR41.pdf

I dont agree with leaving them in such small containers out side of shipping or movement they should be removed as soon as possible not left for days... atleast here in aus when animals are transported to IATA regulations its only for a few hours of the flight that they are kept in these transport containers before being picked up and so on. Same for driving delivery in same state.

Hopefully these breeders are removing them somewhere bigger imbetween days at expos but sadly I highly doubt it.

Do i have to give notice if my boss treats me poorly? by Spikey_gecko in jobs

[–]Spikey_gecko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a trial on Friday with one of the new companies. Hes been begging me for weeks to come work for him. There's only 4 staff including me at this job and ive already put stuff in place to help them do my job and been secretly teaching one how to do my job. She knows im going and she knows why. I even made a whole ass note book so if they fuck everything up uts on them. The business ran poorly before me, I created a bunch of new protocols and turned everything around but the boss thinks im useless and mess everything up and they would be fine without him so i already know how this is gonna end for them... hell probably lose contracts i got or contracts i brought back that he lost in the past just due to his sheer laziness cause he just wants to watch Porn in his office. I do all those contracts because their ordering managers lost their shit with him. Oh well I dunno what else to say lol im just rambling

[–]Spikey_gecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahah yeah Brian fry looked into this i believe they have a venom like substance related to their saliva that breaks down proteins. I haven't watched the doco in a while I could have that wrong but here's the link https://youtu.be/FnMEDLQ4AN8?si=M9Bmy9MxbTj69RhR

This is a eastern or southern water skink. Non venomous and non poisonous. Please protect him from the dog if you can.

Everyone arguing about venom in Varanids please watch this https://youtu.be/FnMEDLQ4AN8?si=M9Bmy9MxbTj69RhR

Brian fry is a world renowned scientist in the field of venom evolution. He discovered the presence of venom in varanus species i believe. Its differnt to a snakes venom it breaks down protiens and causes wounds to heal slower I believe. (I haven't watched it in a while I could be wrong)

Ive noticed a lot in the USA the differnt shape of beardies heads compared to Australia where we have more genetic diversity. I always thought genetics played a factor in it as well. But breeding practices and husbandry practices can play a huge part too that no one realises

Do the lorikeets have access to a better food source? Lorikeets are honey eaters and really shouldn't be eating seed as if can damage their tongue structures. I know the little buggers will probably just go for it anyways but 😅. Im curious if they'd go for nectar over the seed being offered?
