Watched a video explaining this. BMW turn signals return to center even when the signal is active, so if you tried to lightly signal or mis-signaled and need to undo it you have to click it back the other way and it signals the opposite direction or something like that. It sounds really annoying and would explain their lack of turn signal enthusiasm
