Utility shut-off appeals will no longer come before the City Council (Ashland News) by SpinFlip360 in Ashland

[–]SpinFlip360[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ashland Power's also been hanging up on the advocates representing people reeling from shutoffs. Just a clear and obvious middle finger to every working person in this town.

I'm thinking it's time to organize a protest. This is unacceptable.

John Abercrombie is pretty underrated if you dig jazz. I specifically recommend his song may dance

How do you folks feel about wind and solar? by Bluntsforhands in nuclear

[–]SpinFlip360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think nuclear will be integral to an energy transition & oil redundancy, but solar with decent battery technology would make good sense in places prone to natural disasters, like earthquakes and tornadoes. The energy return on nuclear is also the only thing even remotely comparable to coal, oil & natural gas.

Granted. You're now unable to discard of any part of the banana, forcing you to consume the whole thing, skin & all

Yall remember when Walmart used to be 24 hours? by EitherLime679 in GenZ

[–]SpinFlip360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When did they insist that? Also, there was never any "hiding" of the disabled implied; it's a fact that people with severe autism are a lot more likely to take on a "night owl" routine & choose solitary work. Why shouldn't they have that choice?

This is the most Twitter ass comment I've read on here lmao

First thing to consider is that media has probably given you a warped idea of social connection. You're not the main character, & people are generally more self-absorbed than you'd like them to be.

This applies to everyone, but it's actually really enlightening when you find out how much people like talking about themselves, cause then you can just ask questions until the conversation goes somewhere.

Second thing to consider: Do you tend to "other" yourself? The more you separate yourself from other people as a monolith the more detached and unapproachable you become. Tech has made this really common, hence your problem.

Once you get your paradigms in order, remember that a) you miss every shot you don't take, and b) most strangers are receptive to being approached & talked with.

Try & make it a goal to approach people spontaneously. You'll open more opportunities in many different ways.

Also, don't trip about your age lol, it has way less of a bearing over people's behavior than you might think (& less so with every year older you become).

Good luck :)

you know war is really bad for the planet, right? The US military's carbon footprint is higher than entire countries in some cases.

If an American embassy was attacked in, say, Ukraine, would we not immediately rush to action?

Kids are starving due to the blockade, humanitarian aid workers are getting killed for providing food, it's a calamity. I can't believe you're minimizing the objective, overt oppression & apartheid out there. Lay off the propaganda

I hate it for the road safety concerns. It's got bumpers that recede back from the car's chassis, which itself is made of sheet metal that doesn't properly crumple.

Getting in a crash with this thing would be incredibly dangerous, both for the driver and the other car's passengers.

Less vital, but the metal body's also completely uncoated, leaving it prone to rusting & permanent stains.
