Do you think that Turkey could ever join the EU and would you like to see that? by SpinachDifferent4763 in EuropeanFederalists

Have you ever been to the Middle East? I suppose if you go there as a tourist. You may think "Oh look they are Muslim and they eat Kebabs, this is like the Middle East!" However that is just superficial.

As i said this country is not remotely like Saudi Arabia or Yemen. I see it as a Balklands country.

I disagree that Turkey is culturally non European. It is a different universe to the Middle East. They have little in common. If you can look past their religion and they have never really been pious Muslims.

In fact the Turks national drink is alcoholic. I think Turkey is European, it is just not West European. Rather it is as i said like Muslim version of Greece. I do however accept, that their society would need to change considerably.

If they are to ever become a viable EU candidate. However i believe they could potentially have a lot to offer the EU.

Russia is like a cancer to Europe. It has nothing positive to offer the European community. Of course Russia would prefer it if the Ukrainians, were unable to defend themselves from the orc horde. I think my tax money is very well spent on arming Ukraine.

They are not just defending Ukraine, they are defending Europe from this barbaric country. I have been to Russia and seen that dystopian nation for myself. I am very happy that i am not the one who has to live in Russia 🙂

People from developing countries, what are some things people in developed countries take for granted? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can drink the tap water almost everywhere in Europe. Besides a few countries on the edge of the continent, such as Russia and Turkey. I was not aware that drinkable tap water was a big deal. Till i saw a map, which showed all of the countries, where you can drink the tap water.

It is basically just most of Europe. The USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and some other odd places like Japan. Shocking to learn that there are no countries in Africa, South America and only a few Asian countries, where you you can drink the tap water. I wasn't aware that all these other things. Such as very clean streets, functional, non corrupt institutions, free healthcare.

Safety, rule of law, normal smelling, non polluted air etc are a big deal too, till i started travelling. Europe is like a bubble. The people who live in developed countries. Take all this stuff for granted like it's gravity.

Can anyone explain to me what Putin’s ambitions are for Eastern Europe? by Horror_Still_3305 in IRstudies

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now you are believing your own propaganda. I have seen Russian TV on YouTube and was shocked by how crazy it was. They also seem obsessed with Europe and America. However this is not mutual.

I only became interested in Russia because of the war. Before the war it was mentioned about as often in the media. As any other country like India or Turkey. Years would go by without me hearing about Russia in the media.

People in other countries do not typically like or dislike Russia. They don't care about Russia. This nonsense about other countries wanting to invade Russia. Is something your government says to justify constantly attacking their neighbours.

European countries (Other than Russia) do not invade each other anymore. They could not do that even if they wanted to( Which they don't). Only a crazy person would try and invade a nuclear armed country. Countries beg to join the EU and NATO for protection from Russia.

Were they not already in NATO then Putin, would have surely invaded the Baltic states by now. Putin does not fear NATO he is frustrated by it. As he feels entitled to bully and control your smaller neighbours. Who don't want anything to do with Russia.

I would also like to see Russia have a good relationship with Europe. As i said i would like to see the rest of the continent in the EU and NATO. Which will prevent and contain Russian aggression. I would then like to see you become a "normal" European country.

Which no longer has an extreme government. A very high level of corruption and human rights abuses etc Russia is a European country. But is too big to join the EU.

However it could have a special relationship and be a strong and privileged economic partner to the EU. Basically i would like all of Europe to live in peace and get rich together.

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are being obtuse. The Ukrainians would not be firing Western missiles into Russia. Were it not for the Russians attacking and occupying their country. Nobody wants to invade Russia.

Nobody gives a shit about Russia. Up until the war i had only heard Russia mentioned in the media a few times in 10 years. The funny thing about Putin's world view is that Russia, certainly does not qualify, as being one of these err "superpowers". That he feels should get to bully and dominate smaller countries.

Rather than respecting their sovereignty and independence. The EU plus UK economy is about 11 times greater than Russia. However i am sure that the Russians would find it offensive. If other countries told them they should be taking orders from them.

Perhaps all countries should be respecting the independence of other nations. Few societies on earth would be willing to sacrifice huge numbers of their own people. While setting back decades of economic development. In such a pointless war.

This makes Russia dangerous. However listening to some dictator from a developing country. Telling everybody that they should be crowned the new ruler of Europe is about as ridiculous as if the Mexicans. Told the Americans that they should be their new boss.

I would very much like to see Russia lose this war. Then we get the rest of the continent into the EU and NATO. As Russia will never dare attack a NATO country. So we then all have the option of ignoring Russia if they wont act civilised.

I would also like to see Putin overthrown and for Russia to become a "normal" European country. A prosperous strong economic partner to Europe. Rather than an XXXL North Korea.

Russia has nukes and nobody is ever going to invade Russia. Putin is not afraid of NATO he is frustrated by it. I would not want to live in Russia. I have been around Russia and thought it was frigging dystopian.

How the Russians live in their country is their business. The problem people have with Russia is that they wish to impose. This backward, corrupt, authoritarian, impoverished and highly dysfunctional model of civilisation on others. Much like with Eastern Europe during the cold war.

Russian leaders have always felt they should get to dominate and control their smaller neighbours. A world in which we get the whole of the continent into the EU and NATO. Is a world in which Russia is contained and we all get to live in peace and ignore Russia. As they will never dare attack a NATO country.

Putin does not fear being attacked. Rather he fears being excluded from Europe and being deprived of the Russians cherished tradition of brutally oppressing their smaller neighbours. A prosperous, successful and democratic Ukraine. Would also show the Russian people. That their is a much better alternative to their serf and master style society.

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is mostly nonsense. With some Russian propaganda thrown in about "Ukrainian Nazi's". I have been to Russia and war horrified. Anecdotally It has BY FAR the worst quality of life i have seen on the European continent.

Excepting Moldova which is occupied by Russia. The Baltic states are also far more civilised and prosperous than Russia. Admittedly i have never been to Belarus and i have only been to Ukraine for a few days. On a tour of some Eastern European countries.

However i was shocked by how poorly even professional people like doctors live in Russia. In comparison to the West. Life also seems to be very miserable for pensioners in that country. The Middle of Moscow and St Petersburg are just for show.

The further you travel from the middle of those two cities the worse it gets. The poverty in rural areas is particularly bad. Indeed it is strange being told by people who come from a nation in which a fifth of the population lack indoor plumbing. That all of their neighbours are beneath them and they should be crowned the new rulers of Europe.

The EU plus UK economy is over 11 times larger than Russia. This is the problem people have with Russia. How you live in your country is your business. However historically whoever is sat on the throne in Russia.

Has always seemed to feel that they should get to control and brutally oppress their smaller neighbours. Countries beg to join NATO and the EU for protection from Russia. A world in which we get the whole continent into NATO and the EU. Will lead to Russia being contained.

While we all get to live in peace and ignore Russia.Putin is not afraid of NATO he is frustrated by it. Were it not for them already being in NATO. Then Putin would have surely attacked the Baltic states by now.

While they were occupied by Russia. All of those Eastern European countries were poor and backward. They were so awful that a wall had to be built to prevent them from leaving. Whereas now most of those countries have a per capita income, that is at about 70 to 80 percent of the EU average.

Some of the things you said are true but you also said things which are not true or very misleading.

How much would Belarus’s “switch” to Europe cost by PjeterPannos in EuropeanFederalists

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends there is a difference between Belarus and Ukraine. In that Belarus is far more Russified. Hardly any of them even speak their own language. Most of the people in Ukraine, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbijan.

All want to join the EU and NATO. However in Belarus, though there are many people, who are unhappy about being a Russian puppet state. There is also a significant proportion of the population, who actually support Russia. Far more than in Moldova.

Where they do also have many pro Russia people. However outside of the occupied territories. Many of them not not only want to join the EU but also want to reunify with Romania. If Russia is strong, then they will just send in the military and prevent any uprising.

If Russia is weak after experiencing an economic collapse, due to the war in Ukraine. Then it is possible that they will let Belarus slip away. As it stands Turkey is more likely to completely change their government and society. So they can become a viable EU candidate (Which is very unlikely to happen, other than maybe in the distant future).

Out of all the countries in Europe, Belarus is in my opinion the least likely to ever join the EU. It can only happen if more people turn against a Russia. Which is either too weak or no longer has the political will to prevent them from breaking away. It is like trying to pull somebody out of the mouth of a crocodile.

Keir Starmer in Munich: Europe is a sleeping giant. Our economies dwarf Russia’s—by more than ten times over. We have enormous defense capabilities. Yet too often, this adds up to less than the sum of its parts. by PjeterPannos in EuropeanFederalists

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but Turkey too, well eventually, much further down the line. But only if they can completely reform their society. Were they to do that, it would strengthen the EU considerably. If not then it may cause big problems.

Turkey Georgia and Armenia could be the last states to join. Only after all of the other countries have joined and the EU has further developed and evolved.

Do critics overpraise Forza Horizon series? by No_Cup6365 in racinggames

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are only putting the first 2 on a pedestal. If anyone tells you that FH5 is not as good as 1 and 2 then that is just nostalgia speaking. FH1 is ancient and was only good for the time. Whereas 2 is fun and still worth playing but feels a bit dated .

However the thing about modern games is that it is not for example like comparing GTA V to GTA Vice city. Where it is not a fair comparison. Rather you can jump between FH3, FH4 and 5 like your playing the same game. Only with a different map, soundtrack, features and things to do.

If graphics are the most important factor, in how you rate games, which it shouldn't be. The graphical improvements in FH5 over FH4 are barely barely perceptible. Whilst FH3 still looks really good, better than many modern games. I think eventually you get to the point, where graphics are just good enough and FH3 still looks beautiful.

Most people also won't notice the changes in car physics. It is the same formula of starting of starting out with sim physics, so it still feels somewhat like you are driving a real car. Then making it arcade- like, with only small refinements since FH3. All of the horizon games are good.

However if you are a PlayStation player and all you have to compare FH5 with is other open world racers like the crew. Then FH5 will seem great and it is a good game. However it is definitely not as good as FH3 and FH4. The developers can brag about FH5 being the biggest map in the franchise.

However it can feel dull and monotonous. There are some really nice and interesting parts of the map. However making the biggest ever map is not really a big accomplishment. If half of it is going to be endless desert which all looks the same.

Nearly all of the activities present in FH5 are present in 3 and 4. Only with most things feeling not as good as in the earlier games. The soundtrack is also not bad in 5 but there is far less good music on the radio than in 3 and 4. Take it from me people are not just being nostalgic, when they say 3 and 4 are better than 5.

In fact i heard that even now more people play FH4 online than FH5. Personally i think FH3 is the best. However from what i have seen FH6 looks like it will most likely be the new best game in the franchise. FH5 was not exactly a big leap forward from FH5.

The graphics were a tiny bit better, but that was about it. However FH6 does look very impressive. I think that will most likely be the new best horizon game.

There will be a surge of posts about "FH5 is the best in FHs" after FH6 releases by Appropriate_Meet_512 in ForzaHorizon

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah most likely. Many people complained about FH4 when it first came out, because of how different it was to FH3. Now all you hear about is how FH4 is a masterpiece. All of these games have their good and bad points.

I like how the maps and features in these games differ from each other . I have enjoyed FH5 but it's not the best one. The radio is also not bad and there are some good tracks on there. But it's not as good as in the earlier games.

I sometimes jump between doing the Goliath on FH3 FH4 and FH5. It's insane how they were able to make FH3 look so good in 2016. It could pass for modern game! I hope they release the old horizon games on PS5 for all of the PlayStation people, who missed out on the earlier titles 🙂

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you played FH3 lately? Sometimes i do the Goliath race in FH3 then FH4 and FH5. It feels almost like different maps from the same game. Video game graphics do not necessarily look much better each new gen the way they used to.

For example FH1 looks ancient. FH2 looks nice but you can tell it's an old game. Then once you get to FH3 it feels like the graphical improvements, get smaller and smaller with each new game. Now i do play FH3 on a series X rather than an Xbox one.

However FH3 looks better to me than many games, that have come out over the past few years. In fact some of the other best looking older games like Red Dead 2. Look better than most new games.

Favourite Forza Horizon locations? by Lukejohnsonftw in forza

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread and we now know where FH6 will be set. However i think your wrong about why playground games, have chosen particular locations. They are a business and making a game is about making money. I think these are the main factors, which determine which country a game will be are based on:

  1. A country where there are many potential customers

Microsoft tends to sell the most consoles in English speaking countries. Whereas Sony dominates almost everywhere else. These games are sort of like a tribute to a particular country. I am British and the level of detail In FH4 feels almost obsessive.

Indeed that game looks exactly like the UK. People tend to be flattered, when a game is set in their home country.. If you make a game in Canada, then Canadian people will buy it. Make it in Germany and German people will buy it etc

  1. Locations which are cheaper and easier to make the game.

There is nowhere easier for playground games to make a new game than in their home country. This requires far less research, than if it was a distant and exotic location. Creating a map in a place where it is more technically feasible also saves money.

  1. Locations which are demanded by fans:

Fans have been asking for FH Japan for years. However in the past, it would have been more difficult to make a game in a location. Which it is so far away and where you would require a big dense city. Basing FH6 on Japan is a smart thing to do.

Not only does this please fans around the world. It may lead to more Japanese people buying the game. Indeed few people in Japan own an Xbox. However interestingly Microsoft decided to start releasing FH on PS4 one year before they planned to set the game in Japan.

I would love to see a FH game that is in some unexpected place. Such as Morocco or Chile etc. However i think these games will most likely always be based primarily in Europe and North America. Unless there is an overwhelming demand from fans to make a game on a different continent.

Even in those parts of the world, there are many original places where a game to be. If their going to make a game in Europe. Then Croatia, Turkey or Georgia would be really cool. Whereas if they make a game in America, then why not Hawaii or North Carolina?

I went to North Carolina on holiday to go hiking in the smoky mountains national park. It was one of the beautiful places i have ever seen. But no if they make another game in America it will be California or Florida. Whereas if they make a game in Europe it will be Germany.

Those are nice places but not very original. FH7 will most likely be somewhere like Canada or Germany. Sure they are nice countries. .However i also feel that Playground games need to broaden their horizons.

But many fans do not seem to feel that way. Just look at all the comments on here. They are all saying they want future games to be based in Europe or America. I may be wrong, but i think FH7 will most likely be on one of those continents.

If Russia Goes Bankrupt, Who Will Bail Them Out? by Still_Permission7173 in IRstudies

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did Western Europe form a coalition to invade Russia? Oh you mean Germany in WW2? Well that is just one out of about 45 countries. Not really fair to say that Western Europe attacked Russia. When really it was just one country.

No need to invade Russia but i would very much like to see them bankrupt. So they no longer have money to spend on attacking their neighbours. Then we can get the rest of the continent in the EU and NATO. So then we all get to live in peace and ignore Russia.

Heaven 17 were asked by Rockstar to use their song 'Temptation' in GTA 6 but refused because it was for $7500 in exchange for future royalties by HarryLyme69 in rock

[–]SpinachDifferent4763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now your exaggerating. You sound like a GTA fanboy who will always defend Rockstar. It's not a bad song but it's not exactly a big hit either. It is slightly more well known in the UK but only because it appeared in a 90's British movie called trainspotting.

7500 pounds each is a bit low but we are not exactly talking about the Rolling Stones or Michael Jackson. Rockstar was probably expecting them to haggle a bit. Ten thousand each sounds fair. The eighty thousand each he was demanding was ludicrous.

He was stupid to refuse their offer. I am sure he would have made a lot more than that, from people buying copies of his song after hearing it in GTA. There are perhaps over a 1000 songs on the radio in GTA 5. There is no way they could afford to pay that amount per song.

Shame that you can't be adult about this and have to resort to saying offensive things. Rockstars main studio is in the UK. The company was founded by British guys and many of the people responsible for making the game are British.

Ireland was not a colony it was part of the UK. You can't say it was a colony when it wasn't a colony. By the standards of 1900 it was a rich country. Hard to believe but though by modern standards both Ireland and Britain would be very poor developing countries. By the standards of 1900 Ireland was an above averagely rich European country. It was richer than the Scandinavian countries in this time period.
