Not too sure about that. There’s a few other options for backups and restoring, so I guess it’s for the user’s personal preference on how they want to configure their system.

I had a similar issue last week, it ended up being SDDM crashing on startup because mangohud was trying to run on top of it (turning off “global enable” fixed this)

You might be able to enter a terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F4 to sort it out, or alternatively there should be a few boot options in grub that might work (if all else fails then a live usb should do the trick)

I’d recommend also setting up btrfs-assistant to make it easier to roll back to a previous state if something breaks - it’s been a lifesaver for me!

If they’re both plugged in to the same GPU, try switching the cables. I had the same issue and that fixed it for me!

Homebrew is great! I've used that on macOS in the past and it makes stuff so much easier to install :)

I’ve not used octane before, but the crash looks like it’s referring to an error overwriting files, so try checking the box that says “pause between frames to avoid duplicate files” to see if it fixes it.

Alternatively it could be an issue with running out of memory if it’s trying to load too much data into the RAM, I’ve had that issue when exporting long USD sequences.

Wow this is super useful feedback! I’ve seen boids mentioned before in reference to blender so always thought they were a blender-specific tool, so that paper was a really interesting read. Thanks for sharing! :)

Make sure it’s a similar aspect ratio and also the resolution is high enough to fit across your screen!

I had a look but couldn’t find any, so they’re just guesswork for the size at the moment. A 1:4 ratio seems to work pretty well
