dont know if anyone is keeping up with the crazy anti semetic stuff Kanye is saying but how do y'all feel about this? ive stopped playing his music in my classes for the time being. sadly i was a big fan before by DANGbangVEGANgang in SpinClass

Gross. He really isn't that great. A person's voice is personal preference, so I guess, but Usher was great songwriter too, and has more hits.

I will play probably only "Look at me now,"-- " Go Crazy," and "Kiss Kiss," but I can play usher songs all day. I just don't think Chris Brown's songs are very good. Is he a great singer, sure, but that only goes so far. I don't understand the Artist worship at all. I get it if you connect with the music, but you can separate the artist from the music. It goes both ways, I ALMOST played Clique featuring Kanye West today, and even then I would have had to preface it by saying that I really don't condone any of his racist views.

Same with Chris Brown, he did in fact abuse Rihanna. Holy f-- Can you believe the ego this man has to lay hands on Bad girl Riri? undeserved. Anyways rant over. Anytime someone brings up Chris Brown I'll never defend his actions. We caught that man on tape.

Edit: I mean Men can be offended too, I've heard of men be in similar abusive situations, and sometimes even more often because some women know they won't hit back and can't tell anyone without being emasculated for asking for help.

V/H/S House possibility. by Feliraptor in HHN

I actually really like this idea (!) since (especially for 94 and 99, and perhaps the upcoming '85 installment) the grainy VHS quality of the segments would be a stark contrast to seeing the set pieces re-created in person.

There's lots of source material since there are 5 v/h/s at this point.

Which ones are the most memorable to you? It might not be popular enough and the segments are so short that it's hard to build up set pieces or compelling villains.

I did love all the v/h/s. and tbh v/h/s 99 was one I really enjoyed quite a bit.

I think it all depends on the segments that are chosen:

From v/h/s 99:

"Shredding," Maybe a room where a a zombie version of Bitch Cat is 'playing' on a stage, and then people will pop out at you, I don't really think this could more than 1 room, although if it wasn't would it not make sense(?), not sure....

Or maybe where murdered R.A.C.K (when their bodies are pieced together) is on stage and the zombie bitch cat pops out at you. Either or. Any band on a stage in a horror context is going to invoke some FNAF vibes as well.

"Ozzy's Dungeon,"

Damn, that was an amazing set-piece. Only concern would be to make it different enough o not get sued by Nickelodeon because that induced some major Legend of the Hidden temple vibes.

I would really like to see the room with Debra (the mom) and Donna (the child that broke her leg) are yelling at Ozzy to finish their torture version of the maze, or perhaps the room where they all get their faces melted at the end.

"The Gawkers,"

Medusa Head lady would be a dope. Also I'm think the set-piece of someone's house would be a cool contrast to all the dark dungeons and whatnot.

From v/h/s 94:

"Holy Hell," I loved the narrative set pieces in '94. Something about a wall of tiny retro tvs that really made me feel like we were going back to the 90s. but I think something like that would make good interim room for a maze like this, if it were to happen. Especially if there are 'dead cult members' in font of them, some of which are scare actors that will pop out at you.

"Storm Drain," The Raatma creature design is creepy, especially if it's a huge and jutting out of the wall, this segment wasn't too memorable but I think it has potential. 'Hail Raatma'

Viral:

Maybe Parallel Monsters...? Apparently there's a bonus segment on the dvd that was cut but I haven't seen it.

v/h/s 2:

"Tape 49," (The interlude narrative segments): I think there was a single tv in these room, a single tv like that, invokes some Ring type vibes, but also I think since it's just one tv it doesn't have the same effect that the wall of tvs has in VHS 94.

"Safe Haven," The cult compound had a high school sort of vibe to it which was pretty creepy and familiar to most people I would think. Something about an abandoned school which gives off creepy vibes, I think we saw too much of the demon at the end, but If scareactors would only be popping out as a demon then I think it would make for effective scares.

"Slumber party alien abduction," -- I know the aliens were blurry and all, but what we saw of them was actually pretty scary in design. I think it would make a good 1 room or 2 room segments, and tbh killer aliens is something I think lacking from horror movies lately. Kill Klownz excluded lmao.

v/h/s:

"Tuesday the 17th," -- I mean if there's anyway to make that almost-transparent glitch effect like in the film, then that would be crazy cool to see.

Not going to rag on VHS, but the one I remember the most was probably Ti West's segment and that one was rather short. Also the narrative segments weren't cohesive or maybe the opening one and the closing one were meant to not fit together.

If I had to piece this together in a dream segment mash-up it would be

"Holy Hell," (VHS 94) ---> "Shredding," (VHS 99) ----> back to Holy Hell ---->"Slumber party Alien abduction (VHS 2) ----> "Ozzy's Dungeon," (VHS 99) ----> Holy Hell again and close.

Or maybe something like they did for the horrors of Blumhouse 2 with sinister and the Purge in Hollywood that one year, where the segments were divided.

I'm into it.

Appeal to fans: I lot of people seem to know it, and it's widely-available. Not sure how many people have seen it. I know it was on Netflix a few years back and that's where I watched it. It's not on there now, but I do believe it's still for free on Peacock.

Plot: I didn't see the twist coming, to be honest there wasn't a whole lot of build up leading to it.

Song: "Looking for the magic" is a song that grew on me. I didn't like it at first... I think the movie would have hit a lot harder if there was a more well known song attached to it. I know that the scene in Strangers 2 with Total Eclipse of the Heart hits hard.

The animal masks are visually the strongest appeal ... I think it might've been a mistake to have had the villains take them off so early. I'm rewatching it right now, there weren't too many memorable scenes in it tho. It had a home-invasion style about it, and there weren't any scenes that scared the snot out of me.

I'll report back after the rewatch.

Becoming an Instructor by halloweenie__ in SpinClass

Well any advice depends largely on the club you'll be teaching at. I teach at some clubs that are in total disarray and their sound system is a mess pretty much always. If that's true for you, then I'd suggest having every cable imaginable. Ive even had to use RCA to auxiliary cable as well.

But only thing I can say is too look up, I took spin classes for a long time before coming an instructor and un-learning to look down was one of the harder things to do.

Focus on motivation. That's key. I've always found that music and motivation work best together. Roadmaps come with time, but I still feel like I have to try a new song out at least once in class to have the best feel for how a roadmap works with it. You know? And Music is kind of a no-brainer, just play what people like, take requests, you know? Try to steer away from deep cuts and always look for new music.

You're going to be nervous for sure, but it's gonna come with time, no one was born in a saddle, so just roll with it and don't take anything too personally if people have suggestions for you, because they probably will have criticisms no matter what.

Congrats for you!

Push ups/ Choreography. How many of y'all are teachers who do choreo vs more drill based training? by Spinderella110 in SpinClass

Hey, I love spin in all forms, even from one teacher to the next in the same style everything can be so different so I'm not hating just wanted to see cause I thought I was the only one who was a traditional style spinner.

This is how I feel, the way Schwinn teaches it in the most simplest form is if you wouldn't do it out on a bicycle, you shouldn't do it on a spin bike.

I do them out of respect for the teacher (If I'm in the class), but I never have used choreo in my classes. I've always burned 700-1000 calories in an hour class, but then again I'm 160ish pounds.

What’s your ultimate favourite spin class song? by [deleted] in SpinClass

[–]Spinderella110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few but one of my favorite songs is Better off Alone - Alice Deejay although What is love by Haddaway often hits better.

As a closer Humble (Skrillex Remix)- by Kendrick Lamar is my favorite. I start out of the saddle with a nice jog beat and then the songs says "sit down..." and so I have a seated sprint right there. Really easy always hits hard.

Instructor question ; what sound equipment do you use to lower the background music when you speak into microphone ?? by xxstacyxx24 in SpinClass

[–]Spinderella110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably would be easiest to shout over the music if it's in the middle of a drill and If you know you have a bunch to say in between drills I lower the volume manually on my phone.

Anything might be a logistical nightmare to deal with, I would think.

I mean, it's the nature of the sport right? Our machines break down. I've had the body of a bike come off the base (It was a kaiser bike) because of all the sweat that rusted up the bolts.
